Wez
I'm looking for clear pictures of the fin mounted EKRS-46 (signal) flare launcher as used on the MiG-17F Fresco C and later. I built the SMER 1/48th Lim-5/6 many, many years ago, and they showed this launcher in a depression on the fin (starboard side, low and forward on the fin). Roll forward to now and I'm looking to build a trio of Airfix 1/72nd Fresco C's in the Africa GB, the thread is here. The Airfix kit shows a raised bump on the fin in the location of where the flare launcher should be, I'm pretty sure it should be flush at the very least. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a picture of this feature? I've done a google search but haven't turned anything up.
Jure Miljevic
Hello, Wez This photo ... ... and other ones here in Weichao Chen's walkaround may help. Cheers Jure
Wez
Thanks Jure, Just the ticket, it looks like a flush (or at least only very slightly proud), doubler with slightly recessed launcher, easy enough to sort out.
Jure Miljevic
I am glad it helped. I was looking for in-service photos of MiG-17 tail, but none I found on the web was clear enough. By the way, despite its age, I very much like Smer kit. Cheers Jure

Cheers Jure Yes, I have fond memories of it, I used a resin cockpit on it, looked the business, I did it as a Polish Lim-5 and was very pleased with the outcome. I think it was a KMC resin cockpit.
