Marlin
Hi I've now started the final assembly on my MiG. Yesterday I got the gun tubes in place, and I've also primed them. 124 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The horisontal rudders are also in place. 125 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've glued the undercarriage together with the covers in place on the main landing gear. 126 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The resin drop tanks have been painted and varnished and are ready to cut from the pour blocks and mount on their pylons. 127 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I think I'll be able to do some more work on this before we go to the cottage over Easter. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi I got some more done yesterday evening. I've glued the landing gears in place. 128 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Also the landing flaps. 129 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The covers for the main landing gears, I had forgotten to paint the nose gear covers. 130 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And on it own legs for the first time, no tail sitter. 131 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The pitot tubes are in place. 132 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 132 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Not much left to do now, so I guess that'll have it done the week after Easter. 133 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Hi. I think you'll manage a next to the final update on my MiG-17. Yesterday I glued the landinglight in place, as well as the glass inspection covers under the engine. 134 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Then I mounted the bombs to the pylons, and then to the wings. 135 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Looks like Hobbyboss think you should fly with the undercarriage in the down position when hauling bombs. I'll leave it as it is. I then cut the resin drop tanks free from the pourblocks and glued the kits pylon to them 136 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I didn't have time to mount the smaller bracing pylons in the front of the drop tanks, so I'll have to fix this tonight. To be continued..... /Bosse 2

Marlin
Thanks Martin. One more session at the bench and then she's done. Which suits me fine consindering that the "Unarmed" GB starts next Saturday. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. My MiG-17 is now finished. I glued the last pieces on it yesterday evening. First I had to adapt the kits wing tank braces to fit the Quickboost resin drop tanks. 137 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 138 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've added the blade antenna beside the cockpit. 139 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And the small pitot tube infront of the cokpit. 140 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Then I installed the airbrakes. I shortened the acutator rod with around 25% to get the airbrakes to sit more "right" instead of pointing almost at a 90 degree angle to the fuselage. 141 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 142 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And last I added the seat, stick and canopy to it, and it was done. 143 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 144 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 145 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 146 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 147 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And with his I'm out of Africa, for this time, but I'll be back soon again. Saw some pictures online yesterday of Egypts new Su-35S's and I know I want one. /Bosse

exdraken
Regarding bombs and location, I do not have the HB instructions at hand but I think to remember that it is either bombs OR drop tanks on the real MiG-17. Just Egypt modified theirs to carry bombs on the fuselage as well. But not that big ones together with the tanks! The MiG-17 isn't really famous for its load carrying capabilities either... Marlin
Thanks Werner. So I guess the most realistic option would be to pry of the bomb pylons and just have it as a fighter I guess then. We'll see what I'll do. It sits in my display cabinet now. And speaking of which I'll have to start to pack up my models for next years moving out for renovations. /Bosse
