Marlin
Hi, My choice for this GB will be an Alergian MiG-17 from the Six Days War. RidgeRunner
So it’ll be a radar nosed machine?

Whoopsie I hadn't noticed that the nose section is for the PF-version before, and that my version is the F. So I guess that the nose section goes back in the stash for use on another kit some day. /Bosse

Wez
The Fresco is proving mighty popular for this GB, not surprising really considering how widely it was used across the continent. 1
modelling minion
Yes an understandably popular choice the Mig-17 and an Algerian one will look very nice indeed.
Marlin
Thanks Guys. I had the kit out yesterday and it look like a straight forward kit to build. /Bosse.
Marlin
Hi. I started my build on Saturday with some engine work. 071 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Lots of parts that'll never see the sun again. 072 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 073 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 074 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 075 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 076 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 078 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll replace the kits ejection seat with a resin ejection seat from Quickboost. 079 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've glued the intake/nose wheel bay together. 080 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've painted the cockpit parts, 081 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll be putting some ordnance under the wings in form of a pair of FAB-250 bombs. 082 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've used some Eduard PE parts to spruce up the cockpit a bit. 083 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 084 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 086 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've completed the engine assembly with the exhaust parts, the only painted parts of this subassembly. 085 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I used some Tamiya "make-up" on it to get some better colours. 087 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 088 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And that's how far I've come so far, but since I'm at home from work nursing a wee cold. I guess I'll some more progress to show you by tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be back at work on Thursday. To be continued...... /Bosse
Smudge
Nice work. I really like the look of that engine, it would be great to do one with the tail off and the engine exposed. I wonder if I can get one in 1/72

modelling minion
This is off to a great start. The cockpit looks good and the Eduard etch certainly improves the look of it. Nice job on the engine too, it is a lot of work to just have the end visible isn't it.
SoftScience
This is great! I didn't know the HB kit had an engine! It looks so cool! Like a 1960s space craft. The bombs are going to be a nice touch. Awesome stuff!
exdraken
Great little project! Cockpit looking good already! Be careful those early MiGs tend to be tail -sitters....
Marlin
Thanks Gents. I've put some small weight in the intake section,, And I'll glue some more in when I've got the cockpit in the front fuselage. /Bosse
RidgeRunner
That is very nice work, Bosse :). I’m eager to see how this progresses Martin
Marlin
Hi. As stated early MiG's are tail heavy, so I'll be putting nose weights where ever I can find space for them. I've glued two fishing weights to the back of the cockpit. 089 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And the I glued the engine in place. 090 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And a short while after, I could glue the fuselage together. 091 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll keep it in clamps over night and glue the wings on tomorrow. To be continued..... /Bosse
modelling minion
The fuselage has gone together very nicely, good job.
Marlin
Thanks modelling minion. I think Hobbyboss had it's A-team working on this kit. It goes together really nice. /Bosse

Given their liking for tail-sitting and the fact that the engine don’t be seen, I would have removed the forward section of it to reduce weight at the rear. Marlin
Thanks Martin. I thought about excluding the engine parts. But the kit is constructed so that you'll glue the whole engine pack mid fuselage, and that's it. No other mating surface so that I could just use the exhaust parts. Hopefully my fishing weights will be sufficient to avoid a tail sitter. /Bosse
RidgeRunner
🤞 finding space in the Airfix 1/72 for weights is a challenge too Martin 1
