SpaceMan333 Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Hello, I have one of simple ebay spray booths, and fairly happy with it as a starter. It shifts about 3L / min I think. I was wondering how higher end booths compare for extraction. I've seen a spray booth with twin fans sold by Bartsharp and some ebay sellers. Does anyone have experience of this one and would they recommend it? How does it compare with a Benchvent? Thanks 1
Head in the clouds. Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I can only comment on the Benchvent 300. It aint cheap but you get what you pay for and when you are dealing with health damaging and explosive fumes I would go with the best you can afford. Just make sure the fans are suitable for volatile fumes, I think they need to be spark free, sheilded or both making them suitable for airbrushing. Just for comparison the BV300D shifts 355 cubic metres/hour, yours is shifting 180. 3

fatfingers Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Its a 3rd from me... best bit of modelling kit i've bought 👍 Regards, Steve 2
Stef N. Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Another one for the Benchvent. Yes, it cost a chunk of change but it's a great bit of kit and I feel much safer using some of the stronger paints. 2
planehazza Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I'm stuck in the 'I'm returning to modelling' and am not sure how serious I'll take it this time around or for how long I'll stay, so I'm torn between "buy cheap, buy twice" but wincing at spending £500 when money is already tight anyway. I'll be spraying primarily Tamiya XFs but I've heard so much good about the Mr Levelling Thinner that I want to try that, so a booth is a must. I have a cat now too and she will be banned from the room when I'm in there modelling for obvious reasons, but the fumes wouldn't be a risk to only me. Venting to a window is going to be an issue unless I extend the hose to ~3m. So do I cough up for a Benchvent or try one of these for half the price whilst still being good? https://www.bartsharpairbrush.co.uk/product/large-airbrush-spray-booth-led-lights-sb04/
planehazza Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Just wondering peoples thoughts on the above? Wouldn't mind getting some modelling time in this winter. If I stick to tamiya X/XF paints and avoid lacquer would I be safe enough with a Bart Sharp booth etc? I simply cannot stretch to £500 for a booth, it's simply not possible right now.
Tijuana Taxi Posted November 3 Posted November 3 There used to be a recirculating spray booth made by Aircom I looked at one before I found space in another room with window access. Ended up getting a Sparmax SB88 which works very nicely albeit I only use acrylics. *edit* This is the Aircom Booth I mentioned above Aircom Spray Booth

The Bartsharp appears to be a rebranded version of a Hseng spray booth. I use a Hseng 420 for spraying lacquers and it removes the vapors fine, check around for a better price than the Bartsharp https://www.haoshengnb.com/product/419.html

I have a cat to consider too, and she spends a lot of time with me in the room I plan to use. I'm not sure I'll be doing loads and loads of modelling, but I typically paint 1/48 planes so I'll not be spraying by the gallon, and I'd be using an airbrush with very thinned paints and low PSI settings. I'd still be venting to a nearby window, however....
