Hello fellows,

Let me show you my new project. The Trumpeter P-47 Thunderbolt, bubbletop, "2 Big and too Heavy", in 1/32 scale.

As you know, this Tumpeter's model has a lot of interior details, which I'll try to  made visible...(at least some of them).

And here some pics...; this is the real bird, and the Trumpeter art box.

As usual, I've started with the cockpit:

As aftermarket, I only bought the Yahu Instrument panel. In my opinion It's worthy, and improves a lot.

spacer.png        spacer.png     spacer.png

spacer.png

Most of the ducting and piping, wont be visible after the model is assembled...

spacer.png     spacer.png

I'd like this part be visible, so I've added some hoses and wires...

spacer.png    spacer.png

As also I did, behind the instrument panel:

spacer.png    spacer.png

Prior cutting the fuselage, I did a fit test...

      spacer.png

My idea is gluing the two cut parts of fuselage, so they be easily to put and remove, in order to show the interior (the water tank, fuses added, etc..)

And this is the way I hope the model will be seen (removing the parts):

spacer.png

Note: the rear part of fuselage, won't be removable. Alhough I think is interesting, also....

So now, after putting AK putty for filling the gaps, the two halfs are drying...

spacer.png

spacer.png

And finally, a last pic of the model....

I hope you enjoy it, and I would appreciate your comments!

Thanks for watching.

Thanks Alan,

I've cut  this two parts of fuselage:

spacer.png

I hope they work as a cover, which can always be put on and removed to make the details visible...

The problem will be to fit them....

Hello fellow modelmakers,

Today, I put some more pics, related to addding wires in the  area between the engine and the cockpit:

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

I've used 0,5 mm copper wire for this, and some spare parts from other kit, for simulating the holes and connexions.

spacer.png

This part is almost done (...regarding to add extra detail).

After, I've continued with the engine:

spacer.png

This pieces fitted very bad, and needed a lot of sanding...

spacer.png

Now, all the pieces of the engine are mounted and primed with Vellejo Surface primer (glossy black), and ready for paint....

spacer.png

Painting will be next day, after all this suff dries...

I appreciate yor comments.

Thanks for watching!

Hello fellows,

Here some more pics, regarding to the painting of the engine. I've used Vallejo Metal color Pale Burnt, Cooper (for inside pipes), and Tamiya Medium Blue for the nose casing.

All the cylindres were weathered with Tamiya Pane line accent:

spacer.png

This is the result, after putting all pieces in place:

spacer.png

I also added the ignition cables, using 0,5 mm copper wire....

An this is all for the moment...

Hello fellow modelmakers!

Let me put some new pics...

This is the rear part of the engine, which barely will be visible at the end.

spacer.png

And this is the whole engine already mounted, with the ducts connected:

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

This is the first test to join the  two halves of the fuselage:

spacer.png

Just a little bit difficult  (...since ther are a two big chunks)

spacer.png

Here, with the two covers that I made and the cowling on.

spacer.png

As usual, I needed some putty fot filling minor gaps. But nothing special...

spacer.png

Following the instructions manual, I made the eight gun machines required.

spacer.png

Before painting, I've used Vallejo Surface primer Gloss black.(77.660)

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

Here, a big problem arose: the engine cowling doesn't fit well.

The inner walls are too thick; and the bottomof the cowling remain lowered of the rest of the plane.  It is shown by the yellow arrow...

spacer.png

This worried me a lot, and finding no better solution, I decided to file the inside walls of the cowling, with an electric drill and sander.

spacer.png

I hope this be the solution to align the cowling properly.

So, until next day...

Happy Easter for everybody!!

Very nice work! The cowling is a problem, I had to cut back the engine interior mounts and thin the cowling to make it fit on mine.

Hope it doesn't affect all the nice detail 🤔

Hello everybody!

Trying to find a solution to align properly the cowling, which remains lowered from the bottom line of the plane, I filed and sanded it, as much as I could (in fact, I made a little damage in it).

But even though the inner walls remained very thin, the problem continued.

So, I decide to go for main surgery...I cut totally part of the intake, and also sanded a lot all this part:

spacer.png

Compare the picture (above) and after sanding (below)...

spacer.png

Now, the cowling fits  better  (my idea is that be easily removable, in order to show the engine)...

spacer.png

But, for my disappointment, the issue of lower alligment still remains, as you can see above:

spacer.png

Also, you can see  the another yellow arrow, showing one little damage It was due to the inner walls of the cowling underwent a lot of file...

In this pic, you can see the other side. The problem remains... (maybe a little bit better, but NOT more!)

spacer.png

Anyway...

At this moment, I don't have better idea about what more I can do. Perhaps when the cowling be definitely in their place, the difference will be less visible. I hope.

Your comments and ideas will be welcomed.

Meanwhile, I've carried out the primer of the wings...

spacer.png

And finishing the eight gun machines. Only four of them will be visible, since I pretend left opened just one cover.

spacer.png

That's all for now.

Thanks for watching!

Hello, fellows!

After a long break, I've taken the model again...

So, let's go with some pics.

First of all, the cowling didn't fit in any way; so finally  It needed a very (...very!!) big surgery. I had to cut the inner air intakes, as you can see here:

spacer.png

         And reducing them a lot...

spacer.png

In that way, after make them shorter, the cowling finally fits...

Of course, I was disappointed with that solution, but really  I could'n find any better🤔

spacer.png

After this, I did a first layer of black primer (Vallejo surface primer 77.660)

      spacer.png

And after painting all plane with Vallejo 77.701 (aluminium),  I also used Vallejo 77.704 (pale burnt metal), in some panels; I hope will made the model most interesting...

     spacer.png

Here, part of the masking process...

spacer.png

 I started by the tail...

spacer.png

And here some general overviews of the plane:

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

And here, the belly:

spacer.png

spacer.png

Finally, I've also started the undercarriage.

spacer.png

And that's all for now!

I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for watching

Hello fellows!

Finally the P47 has been completed... It took me almost one year.

I'm happy with the final result, despite the problems with the engine and the cowling.

 Here the last pics...

spacer.png

I was doubtfoul about using  with the 500 lbs. bombs,  drop tanks, or rocket launchers.

Eventually I decided for the rocket launchers.

spacer.png

Masking the canopy...

spacer.png

Gear landing installed.

spacer.png

spacer.png

spacer.png

And also the drop tank...

spacer.png

And here, the final result revealed...!

spacer.png

spacer.png

Important: notice the engine was totally "reduced", in order to fit the cowling. 😕

spacer.png

spacer.png

And that's all,

I hope you like it, and thanks for watching.

En few days I'll put some pics in WIP.

See you in my next project!!
