Hello everyone and thanks for the comments ! 🙂

I have taken a few more pictures of the finished tracks.
As you can see, they also have a realistic sag, just like MC or Friul.
The attachment of the support rollers on Dragon is not well solved and could break off with the heavy metal chain. I have therefore installed steel pins as reinforcement.

Have fun!

Hello happy GB community 🥳

The build of the IG is 99% complete and in the next few days I will apply the primer.

While this is drying for somme days I will finish the vignette and start with the figure.
As you can see in the pictures, I have replaced the head with one from Hornet.
The ones from PA are a bit too small for me and especially with the details of the facial features Hornet is the best!
OK, this head is maybe a bit too big, but finding the right proportions is not so easy 🐀 🐘
That's why I call him Fritz the Bolthead - it fits to the tank 🔩 🤪

Have fun!

the last small details-the Voyager guys are very crazy 🧐

spacer.png

also very small hinges for the hatch

i need a srew and a nut for the cable ☝️

😎

spacer.png

the wires are only for test fitting

spacer.png

According to research, the lighting cable went into the towing lug, as other series also had headlights mounted there.
I have added the mounting holes for the lamp sockets.

Hello and thank you for your comments 🙂 👍

I will apply the primer for the tank today and start cleaning the figure and assembling it later.

The painting will be my first online post and I am already a bit excited if everything will work out.
Painting the face and the skin tones is a special subject and, as many people know, not so easy.
I have already painted a lot of Hornet heads for testing and tried out different techniques.
Apart from countless books and videos, I will use for the base acrylic and finish with oil paints.
Since I still haven't mastered the glaze technique and layering with acrylic, I hope to get an acceptable result this way.
Honestly, if the painting goes wrong, I'll leave the figure out... 🔫 🗑️

I have attached a painting test with light and shadow effects, what do you think?

See you!

Hello all

Yesterday I primed the tank and Franz.

For dark vehicles I always use black, for figures the B + W technique.
This helps when painting later, as light and shadow areas are easier to see.
Mixing ratio of paint to thinner approx. 50-50%.
Mr. Surfacer 1500 with MRLT is super smooth and does not hide any details.
I also burnished the tracks, small visible silver areas are still being treated.

Now everything has to dry for 2-3 days, while I finish the vignette.

Have fun!

Hello all and thank you for the posts  🥳 🙂

Today again an update from the build of the IG.

After priming, I first applied a preshading in brown, then Panzer Grey as a base slightly transparent.
I use a soft CM for protruding edges a light gray from above and a dark blue from below.
A filter of red and blue close the base coat in acrylic.

I highlighted individual details with AK 3 Gen.

The Plus Model water pump I did not like so I added a few homemade parts. 🤓

The green color is a nice contrast to the rest of the scene.

For the figure, the acrylic base in beige and blue is ready, so I can start with the oil paints on the weekend.

Have fun!

Hello all  🥳

I have a lot of work to do at the moment, so the construction of the IG is going a little slower 😴
Nevertheless, the modeller always finds a little time for his hobby 😁
Today it's about markings and the first dirt in the area of the running gear.
I'm not a fan of too much dirt, but i can't do without it in this scene.
I can highly recommend the brown russian mud from Vallejo, according to the season (november) it fits great and forms a visible contrast to the tank grey and snow.
The Balkenkreuze are sprayed with a Aber stencil (no silvering) and I am very satisfied with the result.

Have fun!

first the black

it is important that the second template is positioned exactly on top of the first one 🧐

Protect the colour with clear varnish

spacer.png

the poor detailing of the shock absorbers is a thing of the past 😎

spacer.png

the fresh application still shines...

this is what happens when you drive without a mudguard 😲 🙈

Fantastic progress MD. I like what you have done with the Balkenkreuze - it will certainly look better than decals. And your mud work looks very impressive too. In a while, in my thread, I will post some photos of my version of what you have superbly done here. I used Vallejo's European Mud.

Kind regards,

Stix

Looking good MD, those Vallejo muds are pretty handy, used them on the M4. However I still try and avoid heavy mud build ups as I can ever get them to look right.

Good to see this back on track! 👍

Good morning all  🥳

Another small update from the IG today.

First of all, thanks for the comments and yes, applying dirt is always a bit of a risk 😅

I did a first pinwash and then added dirt splashes.
The vignette is in the wooden frame and ready for painting.

Have fun!
MD

spacer.png

first pinwash

i always use a light brown or sand for Panzer grey, otherwise the contrast is not visible and everything becomes too dark

spacer.png

some streaking effects

spacer.png

spacer.png

first heavy enamel splashes

spacer.png

🙈

spacer.png

too many splashes can easily be removed with thinner

spacer.png

i used 3 different shades of brown for a nice contrast

for me the splashes must be fine and in scale

spacer.png

cleaning is still needed here and there

spacer.png

the dirty work is done. The model is ready for the second pin wash, chipping and OPR

spacer.png

the vignette is ready for the next steps

See you!
