Hobbyboss 1/32 Spitfire Vb.

Recommended Posts

Hi folk's,first for 2021 is Hobbyboss's Spitfire Vb in 1/32 scale.I decided at the end of last year to give the oldies

a miss and indulge in a  mainly 1/32 fest this year and push my skill's on a little so here's the first, now before the

flaming torches and pitchforks are dug out I took the weathering inspiration from this photo trying to get the faded

hard worked look of the real thing, the kit is a great build but there are I believe accuracy issues but he-ho,definitely

the wheels are incorrect for these North African Vb's most photo's show the solid hubbed type I'm going AM with

Revells Mkll wheels for the next build. If you want a bit of build info here's the WIP.

Looks excellently grubby, fine skill at work. I love the squadron codes especially. That prop spinner definitely looks odd though, too long by about a third... 🤔

Very nicely done , looks the part . You mention accuracy issues and as BURNCPT mentions above the spinner is way too long ( i can send you one from the old Hasagawa kit if you wish to replace it ) also the cockpit wind screen and hood looks way off compared to the photos ,( the Hobby boss kit also suffers the same issue ) these of course are minor distractions from an other wise lovely model .  :goodjob:

Not usually a fan of the 'weathered' look, but you've made a good job of that.

Many thank's Vinnie I don't usually go as OTT but that photo inspired me,I was cracking on with the 109 I'm building as it's partner

so gave the wheels and tyres a dusting of sand with the airbrush looks much better.

Lovely work on your Spit, Steve -

I think this is your best work so far.

Regards

Dave

Many thanks Dave one of the reasons for a change of scale was to push on and try new thing's especially in the paint and weathering.
