CedB
Thanks Ali, Giorgio, hendie and Leon Pitot on. There's supposed to be a hole in the LE but I couldn't find it so I drilled one: Painted and left overnight, this morning she got her satin coat: Once that's dry I can de-mask. You know, the Molotow pen I was trying. I hope it comes off cleanly. Oooh, I love a bit of tension in my threads. Or do I? 8

CedB
Those of a nervous disposition should probably skip this post. I probably hadn't applied the Molotow mask thick enough to peel off in one go. Although it was on a 1/72 canopy so thick isn't easy. And I probably left it on longer than I should have. I did cut around the edges with a sharp blade though (I don't often bother, although I think I will in the future) Anyway, It didn't peel off. It didn't even scratch off with a cocktail stick: Water made it milky. Hmmm. White spirit, however, cleaned it off, eventually: Then polishing cream made it better. Then Aqua Gloss came to the rescue, as usual. So, what's the verdict? Yep. The time saved applying the mask was FAR outweighed by getting the damn stuff off again. My fault, probably. I'll still be using the pens for little things and filling in gaps but I'll make sure I apply it thicker and won't leave it for so long. Meanwhile: 16
Timmas
I've not seen canopy masks do that to clear parts before but you've made a good save and it's all looking really good. Maybe I'll get mine out of the stash after all !
CedB
Thanks Timmas Not masks as such - I used a Molotow masking pen. I don't think I'll do that again! Flory off: Now in the RFI section here: One picture I didn't use 'cos it looks too dirty: Thanks as always for your help, support and companionship during this 'interesting' build. Now back to the Dragonfly here:
2996 Victor
Great work as always, Ced! I'm rather encouraged to have a go at one of these (despite my cowardly post some pages back, duly chastised by @Heather Kay ). Bizarre about the canopy mask but a great save, and beautiful finish. giemme
Great save on the canopy, Ced Though as you say, it looks like the masking pen isn't worth the hassle. And since clear parts on my models remain masked for quite a while, I won't be getting one. So for this time, thanks for not suggesting a new tool Ciao

alt-92
*takes note: no Molotow masking pen, stick to the regular masking fluid jar Phew. Heartrate at acceptable level again, Ced? 1
