Hi Bob. Great to have you along for this GB with your ONE kit. I have added you and your ONE kit to the list in the first post.

I have dusted off the afore mentioned kit from the stash so I can take a photo:

Still all bagged up and never been fondled.

But while digging through the stash I found this old but goodie, the original issue of the Dragon M4A2 (76) along with some Bronco T49 tracks to replace the DS ones.

Now that looks to me like a lend lease pairing if I ever saw one.

I'm sure by March I could clear my modelling table and find some Tasca/Asuka replacement running gear in the stash, most of the photos show these Russian M4A2's with smooth hub wheels fitted.

Bob...........it's only been two weeks and your resolve to build ONE kit is already crumbling!! And there's still three months until this GB starts! How many more will you decide to build by then!! :hmmm::unsure:

Nice choice of kits though! :wicked:

Kind regards,

Stix

Hi klr. Sounds like a great selection of kits to build!! Can I just check if you are planning on making all three? Great if you are! I have added all three to the list in the first post for now. Please just let me know if you are not planning on makingb them all.

Kind regards,

Stix

Yes, the plan is to build all three. I have many other "candidate" kits, mostly in 1/72, from Trumpeter, UM, Heller, Italeri, Airfix and Forces of Valor. But these three 1/76 kits will probably be all I can manage during what is likely to be a very busy time. The Zvezda M4A2 is also on my "to get" list, but I doubt I'd have the time to build that either,

The Fujimi M4A1 Sherman and M30 also include a Jeep as a separate kit. Additionally, the M30 and M36 Jackson each include a motorcycle with about 20 parts, which probably also qualifies as a kit in its own right.

First off @PlaStix thats a top collection of bits ,and one to watch for sure

@Retired Bob those bronco tracks still give me nightmares from the last sherman build , i did a calliope with duck bills, off the top of my head i think it was 5 parts per link 🙈,  next my second choice , I'll  sheepishly offer for your acceptance/ refusal  the tamiya 1/35 m51 (thats the bit that worrys me) idf super sherman

It goes have the word "Sherman" in it, would have thought that would be okay mate.

I'm  with you on that one craig , but my last choice had the words sherman in it too!(tracks, running gear , and the word m3), ok, ok i know now, americanisms, but  just checking 🤭, after all tricky rich refused me entry to the specialist gb ,with my 1/35 aerosan choice,  and i thought that was pretty special ,machine gun sledge? Dont see em every winter  do you?

Hi Glynn. Yes you are fine with the M51 Super Sherman! The Sherman M-50 and the Sherman M-51, both often referred to as the Super Sherman, were modified versions of the American M4 Sherman tank that served with the Israel Defense Forces from the mid-1950s to early 1980s.

@modelling minion Hi Craig. Thank you for your comments in this thread. Can we tempt you into taking part in this STGB?

Kind regards,

Stix

Inked in, @modelling minion?

I am giving it some thought, I do have a Hobbyboss 1/48 M4A3 (76)W in the stash, and I think a 1/56 Firefly. Just depends how other GB's go.

If I could find a decent picture of a Soviet M4A3 with patriotic slogans that might help the decision process, though doing one from the Battle of the Bulge in temporary winter camo also appeals.

WeeeLLLL, I do like Sherman's and I have 2 or 3......dozen in the stash, mostly Dragon with a smattering of Tasca/Asuka kits.  I will just these two for now, once finished I might throw in a D-Day M4 with a dozer blade fitted, that's been on my to do list for several years, I have a Dragon M4 (Normandy boxing) put aside for this build

I have made them before Glynn.  I found that building them non-working, like Dragon magic tracks is quicker and easier.  Just assemble them with some liquid glue and shape them before they dry.

I bought these and several other sets from a Chinese ebay seller,  They are all stamped inside the box as 'only to be sold in mainland China'.

I agree bob, if i was to build them again I'd   attempt to cobble up a jig to set them up before hand

Hi Matt. I have added your kit to the list in the first post. Sorry you haven't been modelling for close to a year - that's a long time. Hopefully you'll get your 1/48 Tamiya M4A3E8 built in this GB.

I'm looking forward to following your build.

Kind regards,

Stix

Short answer is NO.  The kit is an M4 which equates to a Sherman l in British use, and a Sherman lll is diesel engined. Totally different.

John.

Hi Guys Excuse my ignorance what is a Sherman  Mk 1 Hybrid,?

 Thanks  Wellzy

It’s a welded hull M4 with a cast front glacis plate, so part welded/part cast hull hence the hybrid name. The MkI was the British parlance for the M4. It’s an M4 composite in US terminology. Looks like a large hatch M4A1 from the front.

Sorry, not got any pictures to hand to demonstrate!
