Spain had ~ 10 of those beasts, seemed difficult to maintain though... who actually wonders...

one of them can be seen at the military museum in Cartagena/ Southern Spain

by the way,  6 out of 10 Spanish Stugs ended up in Syria, together with 17 Panzer IVs to fight Israel in 1967.....

Hi Werner. I hope you are keeping well. Now this looks like a very interesting project. Tamiya's 1/48 kits are usually rather nice on their own but it looks like you have got yourself an impressive collection of aftermarket extras as well! Very nice!! I am looking forward to seeing your project in progress. I have one of these kits in the stash but not any of the extras. I will be interested to see how it goes together.

Kind regards,

Stix

I'm just checking if you've had chance to do anything on this kit yet?

I had today!

and thanks, family and myself are all fine fortunately as well! :)

for whatever reason the cast metal hull's paint is defferent from the other Tamiya tanks I bild until now. It scratches off easily and even react to the superglue.. :(

some work done on the upper structure

and in order to get some Stug feeling I put both together for fit trials :)

fit of course is good, it is Tamiya after all!

Hi Werner. Great to see you have got this under way. Odd about the paint on the metal lower hull. Now you mention it I think I had similar issues with one of mine. It was fine once I had painted it.

Kind regards,

Stix

started to look at the Friul tracks yesterday

ndY5Nja.jpg

230 links! I hope not all are needed...

that is about half of them (one track then :) )

I used a 0.8mm drill bit to clean the holes, compared to the Panther tracks I did recently, this is necessary on all links it seems!

and the first couple of them in the sprocket wheel :) :)

Looks god! It is important to put tracks in the correct direction (now the track is loaded in the wrong way)

Vytautas

Thanks!

Maybe that's the reason for the track damage ;)

Looking great in its paint Werner. With regards the colour - I'm sure it will be fine.......unless it's supposed to be grey........in which case it is too drab olive.

Kind regards,

Stix

and with its mate from the PIV GB last year!

just a question, would Spain have used the MG-34? I did not mount it on the STUG, because I simply assumed the the MG-42 would have been the one.... but when taking this photos I noted that I did use it on the PIV .....
