Airfix 1:72 Spit 66 sqn

Recommended Posts

Finally finished the second of my starter set Spitfires which the kids got free at an airshow some years ago.  It had suffered a fair bit over the years - one of the wings had warped and the canopy and decals were long gone.  The former necessitated getting hold of the Pavla resin set which has the canopy and some resin bits and bobs.  Once again I've discovered that vacform canopies are not my thing - I think I did slightly better on this one than last time but still way too fiddly and time consuming for my liking.  I've also been trying to get some exhaust staining using humbrol weathering powder.  I bought the 'smoke' colour which I think was a mistake as its too grey for what I'm trying to achieve.

I chose to do her as R6800 of 66 sqn with the light blue underside from the Hannants BoB special sheet.

Anyhow, here she is, warts and all.  Next up - a slightly more challenging Shackleton 😮
