1:200 RAF Poseidon MRA.1

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Here is my 1:200 model of the RAF’s newest acquisitions the Poseidon MRA.1

I used the Hasegawa P-8A Poseidon kit (10830)

and Draw Decal RAF Poseidon MRA.1 set (20s-737-176)

I finished it in markings of the first Poseidon received by the RAF ZP801 based at RAF Lossiemouth with 120 SQD

i used Xtracolor X301 Boeing Grey for the main colour and Tamiya paints for all other parts

Thanks for looking and Happy Modelling

What a lovely model,.... well done indeed,..... but crikey,.... the real aircraft is almost soul-less and boring!

Has the real thing filled the shoes of the Nimrod fleet,.... or just a tiny section?

Cheers

Definitely an excellent build. I'd need a microscope to build in 1/200 scale though. Incidentally, were the Poseidons painted in Boeing Grey or Light Gull Grey? I ask because I'm familiar with Boeing Grey on airliners but didn't know it had military applications? I'm open to being educated.

Very nice, I've got a 1/100 scale 3D printed version to build. How long did the Draw decals take to come through- assuming you are in the UK.

Is ti your lighting or have you painted it desert pink? Something you could probably add without too much effort, there's a matt patch around the cockpit area and on the nose in front of the windscreens

Thank you for bringing to my attention about the Matt area around the cockpit I hadn’t noticed on photos of the real thing. I will make the necessary adjustments and yes it’s my lighting that is giving the colour that off colour. Cheers

If you can't find any pictures on google that show the matt area, pm me your email address, I have two good pictures that show it well.
