11bravo
Any good color pictures out there of British 500lb bombs? Surprisingly few pictures I’ve found by Googling. Just looking for info on its colors and some weathering tips. Thanks in advance, John Edited January 31, 2021 by 11bravo

I'll @Selwyn Also, what type of British 500lb bomb, and when. early war bombs were Buff, later they switch to IIRC, Deep Bronze Green, with different coloured markings indicating different fillings and uses. Good point. Late ‘44, hanging off a Spitfire in Italy.

Others will know from memory what the typical bomb from this era will be, though this is pprobably what you are thinking of which from the pdf helpfully linked by @fubar57 looks to be a 500LB MC bomb. That would be Bronze Green, there appears to a a fill ring around the nose. But, as I mentioned earlier, you want @Selwyn for a proper run dwon. HTH Bomb is Deep bronze green overall, (very dirty and faded) just behind the nose is a thin 1/2" red band which indicates live fill. At the junction of the parrallel section and the nose ogive (curve) you can see a very faded 2" band. this is painted Eau de nil. Somewhere on this band would be stencilled the type of explosive fill ie TNT/RDX or maybe TORPEX. The bomb details would be stencilled on the bomb on the top near the bomb suspension lug. Selwyn this shows the red band, and gives an idea of fresh Deep Bronze Green 500LB MC? from http://www.cyber-heritage.co.uk/arms_ammunition_images/ this shows an Eau De Nil band from here, which is well worth a read, as it discusses much of the above, including an excellent round of the 'whys' of the markings by @Selwyn 3
