Malair
My next finished project is Zvezda's Boeing 767-300ER. Finally a type again that I myself have flown in (in 1998 to Florida). This was the second time my parents and I went on holiday to the US. The first time was in 1992 and then we flew with the KLM 747. I had hoped that we would fly with the 747 again in '98 but "unfortunately" (as I thought then) it turned out to be the KLM 767. I thought that was strange, because the 13 year old me did not understand that a twin engine aircraft could fly so far :). In retrospect, I am glad that I flew with this type, because after that for whatever reason I never did fly again onboard a 767. I started building this kit in december 2019, but only finished it just now (due to us moving and a lot of DIY work around our new house). Also, I wanted to finish it before our second child (a baby girl!) will be born in April. The excellent kit is by Zvezda (a much better kit than the Revell offering). The Satcom is from Bra.Z. Decals are from Draw (livery), Authentic airliners (cockpit windshield and windows) and Flying colors (Corogard). I used Xtra Color 302 KLM blue for the top of the fuselage and Canadiaan Voodoo grey for the wings, stabilos and engine pylons. The tail is Tamiya White. As for the engines and the underside of the fuselage I used Tamiya white with a tiny bit of black. The metal colours (leading edges and engine exhausts) are various types from Allclad. At any rate, the pictures: I'm not sure what my next finished project will be. I have the Antonov 10, Ilyushin 14 and Lockheed L-14 in the works. I might even start building the IL-62 and A220 also soon, but we'll see. Anyway guys, thanks for reading and see you next time! SAT69
Beautiful work. The weathering makes it look real 'cause KLM doesn't seem to take great care to keep their airplanes super clean.

mitchem
Excellent build, paintwork and photography. We haven't seen too many 767s around here recently, so thanks for sharing. mike
grgattermeyer
Outstanding. Who makes the base? Or did you make it?
Baldy
I'm not generally an airliner builder Martijn but this is really very nice. Cheers Malcolm

Turbofan
Hi Martijn, Really quite marvellous! Superb weathering as is standard on all your models as is the photography! Was this the livery you flew on? I didn't realise it was around in 1998, time flies I guess. I have a Zvezda 767 in the stash but have heard the engines are slightly undersized, although they look fine on your model, what is your opinion on this? All the best for a safe arrival in April, modelling time might be a little curtailed for a while though! I gave up for years after my two arrived. I tried for a bit but someone would always wake up and need feeding just as I had slid a large and complicated decal off the backing paper!! Cheers, Ian
stevehnz
Nicely done on that, it looks very convincing as you have shown it. I'm thinking I should buy one of these too, we flew back from our honeymoon on an AirNZ 767. Steve.
tomprobert
Beautiful rendition - the KLM scheme just suits the 767 so well and you’ve captured the essence of the real thing so well here. Tom
Malair
Many thanks for all the nice words guys! That is very much appreciated. 14 hours ago, grgattermeyer said: Outstanding. Who makes the base? Or did you make it? I made it myself. I purchased the artwork on one of the stock photo websites and adapted it via Photoshop to make it fit a 60 x 80 cm frame (extended the grass on the Runway for example). I then had it printed on Forex (which isn't cheap btw, but it gives such a nice result and it a very lightweight material). 11 hours ago, Turbofan said: Hi Martijn, Really quite marvellous! Cheers, Ian I flew onboard the 767 with the big blue cheatline in 1998. KLM changed it's livery in 2002 and by that time the 767's were already being phased out. As such only three KLM 767's were given the updated livery (PH-BZM, PH-BZK and PH-BMI). As for the engines, I thought they were fine (but I'm hardly an 767 expert). They at least look better than the Revell engines, which look nothing like the real thing. That being said I would still rather have bought an Authentic Airliners 767, but they offer only the -200 variant and I wanted to make a 300ER variant. Haha I hear you about crying babies and complicated decals. Usually around this time decal also rips in various places, making it even more frustrating

Challenger350Pilot
Very nice work, indeed, Matijn. Really like this build. A fine representation of a grand bird! The KLM livery has always been one of my favorites, being stately and complementing the beauty of the airplanes it adorns. KLM is also one of my favorite “rides,” as I have been a very satisfied passenger on more than just a few occasions through Amsterdam’s Schipol from the US. The weathering makes her look like a well utilized airplane, barely having time for a decent bath! Very nice job! 😁 Edited January 31, 2021 by Challenger350Pilot
Abandoned Project
That's a beauty you have built there. Love the base boards and great photography. Like the idea of built-in weathering by adding a tiny amount of black to the white for the underside of the fuselage.
busnproplinerfan
Looks bang on, just a nice amount of weathering and looks like a scale gloss.

I love the KLM livery, especially on the DC-10 and Boeing 747-400. 6 hours ago, Abandoned Project said: Like the idea of built-in weathering by adding a tiny amount of black to the white for the underside of the fuselage. Actually, that's not weathering, that's the original colour. I know some guys that work for KLM and they have commented that the underside and the engine cowling are in fact very light grey and not white. This was done deliberatly to make any dirt streaks less obvious.
