Wellsy999
Hi Guys, I'm new to this Forum so wanted to get some suggestions. Ive recently built; 1/32 Revell Harrier GR.1 1/72 Revell Spitfire Mk.Vb 1/72 Airfix Hawk T1 1.72 Airfix Lightning F.2a 1/72 Airfix Hurricane Mk.1 1/72 Revell Typhoon Bearing in mind I'm relatively new to the hobby (and on a student budget) do you have any recommendations on what to build ? I only really want to build RAF operated aircraft. Thanks in advance, Matt Edited January 26, 2021 by Wellsy999
mackem01
You've got a good spread of kits there. Next how about something WW1 as these kits are relatively inexpensive in 72nd. If you want stick to jets then you missing a Hunter.

Work In Progress
You might find a Camel a bit fiddly in 1/72, also they're tiny. 1/48 is good scale for a Camel and there is a good not-too-tricky kit fairly available in the Revell reboxing of the soo-to-be-replaced Eduard kit that looks like this. You can pick one up for about £15 if you keep your eyes open in the usual places Edited January 26, 2021 by Work In Progress
abat
Always good to think about a theme for your collection. You want to build RAF, but do you want to focus on a particular period or type of aircraft?

I’m leaning towards jets and training aircraft currently.
exdraken
Revell Tornados in 1/48 were recently re-released and fairly ok price-wise. Will occupy you certainly longer.... 1/32 Revell Hawk and Hunter are also great RAF themed kits! Or an WWII Eduard Spitfire, weekend kit?
Jackson Duvalier
A scratchbuilt Ekranoplan in 1/24 scale is the obvious answer.
Vingtor
You cannot go wrong with an Eduard Spitfire. 1/72 or 1/48 scale.
JagRigger
I'll second biplanes - get into rigging and it's a lot of fun for not a lot of outlay

How about a 1/32 Blackburn Beverly? Post-ww2, highly underrated, has plenty of storage space for the other kits /runs very fast There's always the 1/72 Spey Phantoms of course. Or the Bucc. Lord Riot
You could give the Revell 1/48 Phantom FGR2 a go. It’s ex-Hasegawa so good quality and you can pick one up on eBay for about £25.
wadeocu
Airfix's cracking 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer. The RAF version is due soon and an FAA version is readily available.

Giorgio N
Don't know what budget you have in mind, a kit that I consider very nice and pricewise fits with the kits you've built before is the Revell 1/72 Hunter. I would also join Vingtor in recommending the Eduard Spitfires, their Weekend edition boxes (without photoetched parts) offer a great quality product at a very competitive price.
