1/48 Tamiya P-47M

Recommended Posts

My real first try at some weathering. Paints used were Tamiya and Mr color along with Mig pigments, AK interactive washes, and Abteilung 502 artist oils. This was a very exciting build for me and at one point I was ready to trash it completely. Thanks to someone's model videos, I had to press on. This builder is really a great modeler.

I hope you like my first try at the weathering, I really had fun.

Hi Wisco,

I like the colour scheme, colour modulation and weathing very much. Looks very good for your first time. Well done.

One comment if I may - I only find an issue with chipping as it does not look natural, but as silver paint spills. I know what you tried to achive though. Just study the photos of real aircraft and some tutorials, and you will be good to go making excellent models.

An excellent tool for this is Prismacolor Metallic Silver pencil, as it gives you very good control. Also, try out different types of sponges, as well as hairspray technique. It's a lot of fun, although it needs a lot of practice.

Again, good work.

Best,

Nikola
