DUKW Amphibious Truck "D-Day Beach"

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Today I would like to present one of my older models, the DUKW from Italeri.

I tried to simulate beach dust and OD faded by salt water.

Unfortunately, details like the dashboard are (still) missing (decals got lost) and some things are not correct like the slits in the side rails.

These things I will improve in the future, because I got the Tankograd 6003 Technical Manual for christmas 👍

I also got a second kit from Airfix - two are better than one 😎

Have fun!

Another stunner 👍 really like the weathering. Top job but.........

If this is D-day then it would only have had a couple of hours 'in the field' and I'm pretty sure most vehicles on that day, while not new, were fresh for the battle. Or I might be wrong though 🤣

Looks good! Rust and dirt give a life 👍

Clean and shiny vehicles are boring - glanced once and forgot

Absolutely 😎

Yes you are absolutely right about that 😁

The reason for the exaggeration is that the DUKW because of a damage already a few days stuck in the beach.

So I had thought it the scene...

Very nice, I like the wear and tear. Is it 1/35?

Hell Steve

Yes, it is an old Italeri 1:35 kit

Very nice model, the weathering really brings it to life.

One thing I have always wondered about the DUKW is how much they actually got used.

I get the sea landing landing bit but after they had hit the beach was there any further use for them.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hey Nigel

Thanks!

I am not an expert, but as far as I know, besides landing operations on beaches, it was also used to cross rivers such as the Rhine.
Basically, the DUKW was a transport truck and was used like any "Jimmy".
