Mirage F1EDA Qatari Airforce Italeri 1/48 - finished!

Recommended Posts

a Desert Storm GB is too good to be missed!

30 years ago, gosh! one of the first political/ conflict things I remembers seeing on TV... was 9 back then.....

so here we go, I decided on this one here

Mirage F1EDA Qatari Airforce

Italeri 1/48

lots of accessories I suppose,

L'Arsenal provides the specific pylons and pods... need to go though my assortment... and see what exactly to use!

Decals are from Carpena Exotic Mirage F1

Master pitot

some resin wheels and intakes

Remora pod

Magics (I guess I need some!) (Magic I or II??)

Mk10 or MkIV seat? tend to the Mk10....

any input you have, very much appreciated of course!

cheers,

Werner

During Desert Storm, I would say Magic 2.

Roundels on the picture don't seem very accurate...

the Sycomore will need some scratch.... I do not know of any kit that has it or where it could be available.... L'Arsenal do not do it, RF flight neither.... so I guess....

Will need to check them... :(

the red area seems a bit big...

not sure if there are alternatives out there.... the Caracal Rafale decals are smaller I guess,

Edit: I might find better one in Italeri boxing of the Mirage 2000.... 💡

A nice choice, one of the lesser known users of the F1 during the conflict.

The F1 was not used a lot

French recce F1s Kuweiti and Qatari ones in limited ground attack role and fleeing Iraqi ones.....

But it's in an interesting scheme and F1 all out export configuration.... :)

This is great choice Werner, I really like the F.1 and the Qatari camo scheme was always one of my favourites, when they were sold to Spain they carried their Qatari camo for quite some time.

There is still one on a pole outside the QEAF side of Doha airport.

there is also at least 2 in Spain:

anyone has a cockpit/ IP photo of a Qatari F1 Mirage F1EDA? please?! ;)

Its configuration is unique but pictures are rare... there is one in an old Spanish publication but you can find information inside this digital publication:

so, regarding decals/ Qatari roundels:

with and without flash

MmjztVb.jpg

probably the Italeri / Cartograf ones are indeed better! if not a bit on the yellow side....

if not, there is always FFSMC :)

  • 1 month later...

as the Model Minion insists ;) and as the war will probably end soon anyways..

u7gjAHY.jpg

Pavla intakes glued on, fit is close to perfect :)

in comparison with the ESCI original doble conus intakes (sourris, - mice!) that only actually are correct for the F1AZ

mor cuts on the resin pit

I will most likely use the Yahu IP fro the CT without modifying it a lot....
