KMT 6 + EMT 5? T 55, T 62, T 72?

With Revell having released their tiny T 55 with KMT 6 and EMT 5, whilst a lot is known about the KMT, anyone know anything about the EMT 5? I presume it is the block mounted to the upper glacis, as there are plenty of pictures of the KMT 6 fitted without the block, but I have seen the block mounted to T 55,62 and T 72s however I can find no reference to the EMT 5, the EMT 7 yes , so my question is is the block part of the EMT 5 or something else? Does anyone have any info on it?

thanks.

Is EMT-5 either the NVA designation for the KMT-6, or the unified German designation for it when absorbed into the Bundesheer?  Noting the NVA markings on the box art.  IIRC both East and unified Germany gave their own designations to Russian equipment.  I can't get anything on an EMT-5.

KMT-6 is definitely the mine rake designation. I wonder if the the EMT-5 is the clear lane marker that you get for the back of the vehicle? Given that the two markings options are 1970 and 1985, I doubt the box on the glacis is any form of IED disrupter - more likely just additional armour

The EMT-5 is different from the KMT-5/6.

The EMT-5 is a mine clearing system for magnet pistol systems. Both systems, EMT-5 and KMT-5/6 were used together.

Odd that the KMT 6 and EMT 5 both come under Engineer equipment but that the KMT 6 and EMT 7 are under the heading “laying and clearing of obstacles “ whereas the EMT 5 comes in a separate heading of  “Aufklärung “ or reconnaissance ( not an exact translation but close. Revell give the option of a glacis with or without the box but no indication as to why and what!

here is a German website, about Russian mine clearing systems.

In the chapter for the BMR-3 there is a point with the EMR:

" Sie verfügt nun mit dem EMT über ein zusätzliches elektro-magnetisches Minenräumgerät."

That means:

"electro-magnetic mine clearance device"

This is where the confusion comes in, the BMR 3 is fitted with the EMT 7 part of which are the cylinders mounted above the KMT 7 mine rollers, you would have thought that EMT 5 would be in a similar vein? However I have come to the conclusion that the Revell kit is referring to the lane marker located at the rear as John Tapsall suggested. The glacis mounted block is???? Most pictures of NVA tanks show it not fitted, there are pictures of Finnish T 72M1s with KMT 6 with the block fitted and lights repositioned, also have pictures of a museum T 72 possibly ex NVA with the same arrangement, but a lack of any information other than it existed leaves me scratching my head.

thanks to you all anyway

Just for information, seems like Revell have mislabelled the T 55 kit the box is part of the EMT 7 electric countermeasures

http://www.rwd-mb3.de/ftechnik/pages/emt7.htm?fbclid=IwAR0qMn_XuFckL-GxQkQrQQqQ6TFiY5tPJbxjQRkA3lhcVoHw34rY4Bhouo4

still no idea what an EMT 5 is though, even though the NVA had 109 of them, but I am guessing something different, as they come in the same category as mine detectors as opposed to clearing devices.

Very interesting link,

but the description for the EMT 7 says, for T-72.

So I think, the EMT 5 is the predecessor, used on the T-55.
