Spitfires Forever
Hello I have a question regarding early Fw 190D wheels. When did the wheel design used on the Fw 190 A models change? Was it changed for the D and TA models specifically? I want to make an early 190D model but am not too sure if the late model wheels will be correct. Any help would be appreciated. Hornet133
The new wheel design was first used on the FW-190A-6 model. Quicker, cheaper and easier to produce being a stamped metal design. Edited January 18, 2021 by Hornet133
MDriskill
Hornet133 is correct. One learns to "never say never" with late-war German birds, LOL...but, I've never seen a Dora with the early spoked wheels. Note also that most (but not all) Doras used smooth-tread tires, while most (but not all) late radial-engined 190's continued to use the earlier design with raised tread blocks.
