Tamiya 1:35 Marder I

My first new kit of 2021.

When I heard Tamiya would release Marder 1:35, I was very excited. The kit arrived to me at the end of 2020 and I wasn't disappointed.
I spent a few evening with it and most of the construction was done, including a few bits of improvement.

Great job and interesting vehicle! 👍
It is a really nice kit. But it also has its drawbacks.
Maybe it will be useful:
Marder I Walk Around in Saumur Tank Museum

Fusprech radio wiring diagram
As far as I know, Saumur has the only surviving Marder I. But not necessarily all Marders looked the same - they were different. In documentary photographs, they differ, for example, in the barrel fixing mechanism, lamps, etc.

And the barrel locking mechanism provided by Tamiya is incomplete - one rod, connecting it with the driver's hatch is missing (it worked very interestingly - when the driver closed the hatch, the fixing mechanism release the barrel and vice versa).

I started the same kit a month ago: here's my Marder

Very impressive, paintwork and weathering exemplary. I like it because it’s not boring to watch 👍

Looking forward to seeing more

And a little off-topic: photo background is neutral grey (I mean, in real life)?

Hi,

Thank you. You mean the background I used for photography. It's a sheet of off-white paper.

Really nice!

What containers are there? I also plan to use it, I still have a few pieces from another Dragon model, but they are too long, I had to shorten them. Ammo from the box?

I used AFV club containers. Tamiya stowage compartments are too narrow, due to the thickness of plastic. I expanded the ones on either side but still had to shorten the containers by about 0.5mm. The rounds are those provided in Marder kit.

I really like what you did with the radio!

The weathering and streaking looks on point! Really like this build so far. 👍👍👍
