BF-109 books?

Just placed another monkey on my back, in the form of the 'adlerangriff' eduard set.

I happen to have a 'flea market'

Find of the Radinger & Schick A-E book which seems a good start.

But what are the 'standards' in this field? (Any excuse to buy some books really...)

Ooooh, you can quickly spend a lot of money on this subject!

You don't mention if you are interested in all 109 variants? As you have some coverage of A to E, then a nice complementary volume for you would be this from Prien & Rodeike covering the later marks:

Roman's recommendation for Kagero is also certainly worth considering, and additionally there is also a number of AJ Press books from Poland with copious drawings, pics and notes. One volume for example is here (apologies to @109 fan on this board for pinching his pic)

Plenty of others out there as well. Be careful with older references on the 109  as these can tend not to be clear or accurate about the last G and K variants - these were not well understood until Jean-Claud Mermet clarified the distinct cowl shapes for these.

+3 for Chris and Graham's recommendations for the SAM volumes.

Resources tend to fall into one of 3 groups here - technical, camo and markings or unit histories/deployment.

Which do you favour?

My preference is technical, up to and including what bolt goes where and why.

Valiant Wings Publishing  published two excellent volumes in the Airframe & Miniature Book  Series by Richard Franks,  No.5  the Messerschmitt Bf109  Early series V1 to E-9  including the T-series. Vol No.11  the Bf109  Late series  F to K including the Z series . Both come with excellent 1/48th scale plans. Both are being re published this year with current kit builds and enlarged with more information. Contact through their website or Facebook, and in all good modeling magazines.

ha.....you want to buy Bf 109 books? Try the JfV Jagdfliegerverbände fighter units series from Jochen Prien and team.  There will be a volume (or several) for whichever period you're interested in.. The picture shows Part 13 which covers 1944 in the West (5 volumes) that's about 2,300 pages and a couple of thousand images... Part 4 (two volumes) covers the Battle of Britain and there are volumes on Poland, the Sitzkrieg (Phoney War), Westfeldzug (campaign in the West) etc etc

I am surprised no one has thrown in the Prien/Rodeike F/G/K book. May still be bought for around 30 € incl. shipping. Certainly better value for money than the so-called "ultimate look" books on US bombers by a certain author also published by Schiffer...

Take a look at these new books. They are quite expensive but from what I heard they are very good. The first is about the Versuchsflugzeuge and the second about the serial aircrafts from the Messerschmitt Bf 109 B-1 to the Bf 109 K-4.
