French Navy Corsair F4U7. Hasegawa 1/48°, Suez crisis 1956.

Recommended Posts

Good day everyone. here is my rendition of the French Navy Corsair from the old Hasegawa kit. Many improvements were done on detail are the one in the kit are crude or wrong. The model is riveted and 85% of the markings are painted. A dark solid color like the Midnight blue is not the easiest one to work with, and the weathering had to be decent because on a carrier planes are well maintained. The plane is from the 14F aboard the "Arromanches" ex HMS Colosus. The Aires cockpit was used but it also has mistakes which is a pity considering the doc available, wheels are from Ultracast, rockets and bomb from Aires too. Have a nice day.

That's classy. How did you do the exhaust staining?

With the hand steady, a good airbrush, and after observing a lot of photos, as some are in color, it helps.

Very nice...... The F4U Corsair in a Aeronavale scheme, especially with Suez Campaign stripes is one of my favourite aircraft and you have done a superb job with this one.

Well Done, Sir !

The weathering is excellent and really makes the model :)

Well, I respectfully disagree. You have to built the model before doing any weathering don't you? So if you do a crappy built, then the weathering, even if perfect, won't do the model. Precision in the building process (even more with riveting) is a proper base where the weathering will enhance the whole thing. My two cents, cheers.
