F-16 Weasel Loadout

Hi

i have a couple of old 1/48 Viper kits that I plan to update to block 50 standard and finish one off as Spangdahlem Wild Weasel.  Now I have decals but the kits only contain basic tanks and aim 9s.  I was thinking that I need a couple of Harms and maybe a couple of aim 120s.  Now these are available but is there a 1/48 weapons pack or anything worth getting that would cover what I need?  Any ideas or suggestions welcomed

Harm ( and Amraams)  missiles are included in some kits, but unfortunately I am not aware of a weapons set incl Harms.... (edit, see below!)

Are you prepared to spend money?

Well, there is the Hasegawa weapon set which contains the HARM. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-x48-3-aircraft-weapons-c--130519. However, the kit is rather old and the HARM did not look very nice in 1/72, I assume the 1/48-version is not much better. I ended up buying a cheap kit just for the HARMS. But there is a set from Eduard with two HARMS, not very cheap, but they usually look nice. https://www.eduard.com/Aircraft-and-helicopters/1-48/AGM-88-HARM-1-48.html. Same for the AMRAAMs, there is a kit from Eduard too. https://www.eduard.com/aircraft-and-helicopters/1-48/aim-120c-amraam-(2pcs)-1-48.html

Thanks guys I will have a look at Hasegawa set.  I was considering the eduard brassin amraam set 2 (2 for about £7 delivered) and the same for 2 Harms (about £10 delivered).  The HTS I will have to work on.  I have a couple of Harms in my F-4G set but if I borrow them I will just have to replace them anyway.  So happy to spend some, just looking for options.

It's an AN/ALQ-131 pod. I think Eduard do these also.

I might have a spare HTS somewhere. I have a Tamiya CJ that I'll be building later In the year with both Sniper and left side HTS so should have a right side going spare if you're in need.

Cheers @DaveJL I will keep that HTS in mind.  I need to have a dig through my parts boxes - I suspect I have a alq pod that might do. All part of the fun of the build.  I acquired the decals for my F-4G and they included the F-16 set.  Then I acquired 4 F-16s, so now seeing what will work

Eduard brassin ones are surely too!

For Harm there is also cmk:

https://www.cmkkits.com/en/detail-sets-accessories/agm-88-harm-air-to-surface-missile-nato-us-lau-118-launcher-adaptors-2-pcs-1-48/

AMRAAM missiles also come in Hasegawa's weapon set E or MENG  missile set. Kinetic also has one.

Italeri and Revell Superhornets also come with HARMs, ( and Amraams)

AIM-9X (they do look sleeker than the older models)?

Combinations of LGBs/JDAMs and ACMI pod (admittedly, the second jet isn't a Spangdahlem bird).

And perhaps some of everybody's favourite weapons, cluster bombs (if this is still an F-16CJ SEAD/DEAD thing)

Checked the decals and they actually say 88, so very early.

I checked out the ERTL F-4G weapons sprue & this is what you get

I am trying to figure out of that pod on the left is a HTS pod.  They don’t seem to be carried outboard on the F-4Gs.  And the Phantoms seemed to split the load, so possibly one Harm on the Phantom & one on the Viper, then figure out what else to carry.

86-227 was a Block 30C. So, she will have the F110 engine, but still with the small mouth file the F100 versions (the Big Mouth wide intake wouldn't have been fitted until Block 30D, beginning with 86-262.

Furthermore, being a Block 30, she would not have been compatible with the HTS and HARM, instead employing the older AGM-45 Shrike.

Spang Block 30 F-16's were replaced by Block 50D's, which did feature the HARM, HTS and HARM Avionics / Launcher Interface Computer (ALIC).

HTH,

The pod parts shown on the F-4G sprue are for the chin and tail fin on the Wild Weasel.

The decals depict a small mouth Blk30 jet the first Blk50 arrived in late 1991.

From 1987-1992 the F-4G/F-16C would work in hunter killer teams typically the Viper carrying AGM-45 Shrike,AGM-65 Mavericks, dumb bombs or CBU-87/89

Thanks @Hook that is most useful.  I hadn’t appreciated there was an interim phase of block 30s before the 50/52 Weasels.  Got some reading to do.

Love that second shot @Creepy Pete just what I was looking for.  My plan is for a Spangdahlem Euro One F-4G and F-16, so good to see them together.  Most shots have the F-4G in Hill scheme.  I might still go Shrikes on the F-16 though
