Which UK cars could be viable kits?

Definitely not a viable list, but for me there are a few gaps that sadly I don’t think anyone will fill, Britain had one of the strongest car industries in the world at one time, it’s sad that you can buy a 1/8th Citroen light 15, but you can’t get a decent kit of a :

3 Litre Bentley

low chassis Invicta

Embiricos Bentley

Riley MPH (or even Kestrel)

Alvis (speed 20 or 25)

V12 Lagonda

Bentley R type Continental

AC Ace

D type

Jensen 541

All in 1/12 scale, researched and engineered by the Wingnut Wings team of course !!

one can dream !!

cheers

David

Nice list. Are there any Jensen kits? I’d love to have a CV8, or even an Interceptor in my wish list

Sadly not, or certainly none that I have found, its funny that you mention the CV8, its a car that is steadily growing on me, I think it was "The Autocar" that labelled it "the best car in the world masquerading as the ugliest" but funnily enough it seems to be maturing well with age, faster than an Interceptor I believe....and looks it, particularly without the bumpers.

The 541 is for me the handsomest British evolutionary GT car, it just looks so much better than the contemporary Astons and Jags *bearing in mind it is 50's not 60's, plus under the skin its effectively an Austin Healey 4000 !

If anyone knows of any Jensen kits I would be very interested to know, but I fear the only route at the moment is scratching.

Cheers

Not viable but how about a Singer Hunter in 1/24? I've never seen one in the flesh, let alone in kit form!

The family was Hillman Hunter, Singer Vogue, Sunbeam Rapier.

Hmm just off the top off my head, modern british cars that would have world appeal all in 1/24

Rolls Royce Phantom,

Bentley Continental,

Range Rover,

New Defender,

Discovery 1/3/4 (probably not 5),

Aston Martin DB11,

Any current Jaguar, but also S1 XJ6/C,  XJ40/X300,

Aerial Atom,

Maybe some off the McLarens, I know revell do one that's good.

Jensen Interceptor.

I believe they would have popular world appeal, just as the real ones do.

And a list for my personal wants that wont happen.

Rover SD1-P6-P5-P4110, Rover 75, Rover 800 fast back, any 90s rover, used to be extremely popular in real life, sadly seeing less and less now (real tragedy to anyone who owned them and knew how good they really were)

Triumph Dolomite, Stag, TR7, TR6 and 2000.

Austin Maxi, Princess, Morris Marina mk1, Allegro Mk1, Gypsy/champ, Morris Minor, Montego, Maestro, Metro.

Aston Martin DBS, DB2, V8 vantage, One77, Lagonda/bulldog.

Range rover P38, Mk1 freelander.

The more you think about it, the stranger it is that many of these cars don't exist in kit form, especially the Jags, there isn't really a perfect e-type or DB5 🤔

The Singer Hunter is/was an entirely different car, and very rare/extinct it would seem. Hence why I've never seen one.

Ooh yes, I've just googled it. 1940s style!

DB11 already done by Alpha, as has the DBS and McLaren 720S; I gather a Vulcan is due soon too. All in 1/24 and all very, very good!

I mean the 60s DBS :) and a mainstream DB11 that doesn't cost a small fortune!

Incidentally I used to have a Humber Sceptre Series III, which was also based on the Hunter, as was the Hillman Minx, Sunbeam Arrow and Sunbeam Alpine. I guess you can include the Paykan too! :)

I’m genuinely surprised none of the resin/white metal guys have done an XJ6. It may not be Tamiya fodder, but it’s probably the most significant Jag of the 70s and 80s...

M.

There is a white metal 1:24 XJ6 S3 by K&R Replicas.

There is a metal XJ6 but the picture isn't exactly encouraging.. See here.

A mate had a Rapier H120. Great car, used lots of fuel.... (as did my series 5 Minx, stage  2 with a Weber 28/36 DCD . Comprehensively not faster than  a 3.5l Rover P6 with a flashing blue light, but quicker than an Escort Mexico....)

Even a fully stripped out rally prepped one with a 1760 crossflow, ported and polished big valve head, 4 into 1 big bore exhaust, twin 45's and a fast road cam?

Only one way to find out - RACE....!!! 🤣

Yikes!  And people wonder why the British car industry died?

I actually like it, in a sit-up-and-beg sort of way. Like a small church on wheels. It also reminds me of cars which came later (Rover 90 etc).
