Let's get Special Hobby or Eduard to do a 1/24 Skoda 130RS...

best,

M.

Really can't see a British link there M....!!

I've got a Reji resin one.... :)

(but I'd still buy a plastic kit!)

Agreed on a 1/24 Lotus Elise and MGA! I'd love to have a 1/24 model of my old MGB GT, too.

Also, how about a Lotus Esprit Turbo? We have a couple of kits of the S1 and Monogram's Stevens cars (which could stand replacement), but the original Turbo has been ignored.

1/24 MGB GT transkit is available from C1 models, choose the appropriate Aoshima Roadster as the base.

I am not sure if an MGA is viable but I would love one in 1:24. I think there is a 1:32 but unless I have mixed it up with another kit it is very toyish.

I'd have thought that it was one of the more viable ones.

A Jensen Interceptor would be great. In a larger scale than what I can currently find. At least a 1/12th scale wouldn't leak oil everywhere.😀

Now that would be an interesting feature to build in to a model 😆

The Lindberg MGA looks like an MGA, but the one-piece moulding for the upper body including seats and dashboard isn't ideal. Then a second part incorporating the lower body and sills, plus bumpers (with the join running through the middle of the door) leads me to suspect that this is the toyish kit referred to.

It's a very interesting question, because you really need subjects that will appeal to enough people for the kit manufacturer to see a sufficient return on their investment.  I would guess that some of the factors you need from a modelling subject are:

It is attractive, if not beautiful/handsome then at least quirky or interesting.

It's famous because it sold all over the world.

It's famous because it competed in motor sport around the world or is associated with internationally renowned drivers.

It's famous because it appeared in films or television shows.

A left-field suggestion is the BMC ADO-16 range of Austin/Morris 1100/1300 and derivatives; back in the 1990s these enjoyed cult popularity in Japan.  Although I suppose if there were enough residual affection in the Japanese market, then someone would have already done it.

On your first point, this is exactly what happens when this question has come up on other fora.   It becomes a wishlist rather than a considered response wrt the commercial aspect.   There's always someone who wants a 1966 Rambler four door, or a 1987 Cavalier estate, or a Peugeot 306...

The ADO-16 might actually be viable if you could arrange a Fawlty Towers tie-in.  🙃

What would I choose?   Some have already been mentioned, but surely a Lotus Cortina would sell.  Other than that, I'd like to see (wishlist mode):

Rover P6 3500

Ford Zodiac MkII or MkIII

Riley Pathfinder

Ford Consul or Granada MkI

Triumph TR4A or TR5

Land Rover series 1

I'm a member of some model railway forums and there are strict rules about wishlisting.  One of the model railway manufacturers (a smaller, more niche one) is fairly active and has sought well reasoned suggestions for future products.  Well reasoned includes things like;

Is it something that had a long operational life?

Is it something that appeared across a large part of the rail network?

Is it something that appeared in lots of liveries (they might not do all the liveries at once, but it gives potential for re-runs)?

Is it something that another manufacturer is unlikely to announce (no point doing another Class 66 for example)?

Is it something where there is an example in existence that we can measure/photograph, or with lots of works drawings and contemporary photographs)?

On the whole it seems people are considering the commercial viability, not just trying to promote their favourite car.

And, yes, I think an ADO16 estate might make a fine diorama subject, getting a damn good thrashing!

I saw that. It looks very nice! I’ve been trying to resist the temptation to order one! 😄

I want an Austin Maxi 1750 in russet red.  Just like my first car :) No-one else would probably buy one, but I'd like one.

Have a word with Airfix, they can re-release it next year just for you.     Oh, is that a typo, did you mean rusty red? :tomato:

Someone has done a whitemetal MGA in 1:24 - think it was Wills / SE Finecast, as opposed to K&R Replicas but can't remember.  I am certainly after an MGA so I can build one as my uncle's car.  In the meantime, I'm modifying (& correcting...) a Revell 1:18 diecast.

Isn't it 1:32 though, rather than 1:24?

Mini with a boot

A BMC Mini based Riley Elf & Wolseley Hornet

Quirky and could be based on a basic Mini kit

There have been a few resin transkits of the Elf - not sure if they are still available though.

Remember Jonny Smith? Fifth gear and other stuff? He's got a show on the tube now, The Late Brake Show.

Also do a search for hub nuts. These guys take you around old British cars and drive them.

Anyway, If you like the early Ford Escorts, here's an interview with Russel Lord. The Lord of Ford. He's owned 51 Escorts!

He is also a silversmith & he makes scale models in precious metal of... the Ford Escort! So, Heeereeessss Jonny!

There was also one for a GT/Clubman that used to appear fairly frequently on flea bay, so wish I'd bought one when they did....

Kind of - especially in the lower front wing and round the headlights, but I fixed those myself with some filler & Halfrauds rattle cans.  It was the Shiniest Shed in Cheshire, and used to get admiring looks in the car park... seriously!

Not much of a fan of old British cars (exception for XKSS and E-Types, as well as M6GT) so I can't say much about what I want in the old-school pre-1980s front.

Post-1980, however... Kinda hope Tamiya would make kits of Exige Cup 430 or BAC Mono. Maybe some 675LT and P1 as well.

I'd buy one! My Dad had an orange Maxi. I passed my test on a Friday afternoon in August 1989. Fortuitously, my folks were going away for the weekend (a rarity believe me!) and Dad said I could use the Maxi at the weekend...but for work only. Well, me and my mates must have racked up several light years in that Maxi over the course of that weekend. Luckily, I don't think he checked the mileage before going away. It may not have been the coolest car, but it was "my" car that weekend, and the excellent Tardis like interior of the Maxi was unsurpassed in being able to pack in your entire posse. So I'd love a Maxi. Don't care if Airfix re-release theirs, or Tamiya announce one in 1/24 for 2021, I'll take whatever is going.
