Popular Post petetasker
Latest build off the bench is the Airfix 1/48 Javelin done as Boscombe Downs FAW.9 XH897 circa 1970 ‘ish’. Pretty rubbish weather today so for now at least its a few quick shots taken in the office. Fairly simple conversation. New nose with pitot, deletion of a few lumps and bumps on the wing leading edges, additional fairing on the port trailing edge and a mixture of kit and Alleycat decals. Seats are from the kit with some Eduard strapping. I also replaced the wing pitots with a set from Master. Toughest job was masking the scheme. Last Javelin in service albeit in a test and evaluation role and a massive regret that I never saw one in the air. 897 is preserved today at Duxford. Thoroughly enjoyed the build though I’ve now realised it’s too big to go in the cabinet. Hope it’s of interest. 73

canberraman
An outstanding build and paint. Neither white nor red are easy colours to apply and you have done an excellent job with all that masking. She's beauty and you should be rightly proud. ColinChipmunkfan
Very impressive model and a great paint job. I saw this at an airshow in the static line up - Wattisham or Coltishall can't remember which-in about 1970.

Navy Bird
Really nice! That's my favourite Javelin scheme. Having seen this aircraft at Duxford, you've done her justice. 👍 Cheers, Bill

Col Walter E Kurtz
Not really knowing that much about the Javelin.. does it have 3 Pitot tubes because it's a Test /evaluation aircraft of did they all have 3 x pitot tube as standard? I'm just curious ..
Harold55
This is one beautiful Javelin. I have never seen this scheme before and it looks marvelous.

Head in the clouds.
Great job on a great kit. It is a superb kit from Airfix and it goes together nicely. Your painting skills are superb, red and white are easy to trip up on as I am about to find out with my build of the same kit, any tips welcome..😉 The other point is masking. It is not just one demarcation line along the fuselage but many at all angles too, as can be seen a long time spent on the task but it has paid dividends, superb work here too. I'm just curious .. From what I can tell this Javelin and XH754 which I am building are both test airframes and both seem to have 3 pitot tubes, however, XH754 has a shorter one on the nose cone. I can only see two on standard production machines but I am no expert on the 'Flat Iron' so would be happy to be corrected.
