Recommended Posts

My first upload here, so here goes🙂

I’ve had this kit lying around for about a year now, and finaly got around to build it.

Here are some work in progress shots.

This is the first time im doing chipping. I think the chipping turned out a bit big..

I love the y wing too!

Nice work on the detail, you could try to use some different colour/shades on the chipping. A base shade, middle shade and top shade all of the same colour and as some chips show through it gives you the different shades. I use this technique in Photoshop but am pretty certain it could be achieved in the real world using paint with some practice.

Thanks for the tip, that would bring some more dynamic!

I don’t have an airbrush, så its painted with cans.
the chipping was done by putting on some masking fluid before painting.

Here I have threaded the fiber optics.
for the bigger panels I have heated up the tip to make it bigger. For the smaller lights i left it as is.

I have really made myself some work trying to pull this off.
The plan is to have about four different coloured LED’s to light them up. To place them inside the cockpit is proving difficult.
I’m thinking it would be easier just to use a single white LED and colour the tips of the FO 😄

Anybody done this?

Impressive.

For me fiberoptic is some kind of witchcraft.

Yeah my first and only attempt at fibre got as far as receiving some in the post and a trip to my bench before a loud sigh and a roll of the eyes!

I also had a plan of inserting fiber optics in the droid at the back.
The initial thought was to pass two-three fibers from his head down to an LED inside the fuselage, but I ended up with filing down an RGB-diode and placing it inside his head.

A snug fit 😃

I drilled holes for putting FO in, for his eyes.

Hi again!

It’s been a while, and little time for working on this peace, but made some minor but crucial progress.
Doing the FO in the cockpit has been time consuming job, but I finally got the front of my ship closed!

It’s not pretty, but it’s done! :D

I was thinking about skipping the FO in the guns, but figured I would regrett it if I didn’t.
