Churchill Mk.IV AVRE 1:35

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

The vignette for the Tiger is in progress and so that it doesn't get boring, I would like to introduce you to my new model.

Just like the Tiger with lots of steel and bolts, it is one of my favourite tanks - the AVRE Mk. IV from AFV Club (35169).
I especially like its resemblance to the WW1 tanks and the Petard mortar.

Have fun!

Oooh lovely, busy, detailed beast. Excellent stuff there. One of my favourite tanks to. 👌

BTW I never knew they put mesh over the open tracks on the top. Makes sense as I aways thought they were an accident waiti g to happen 😳

Hello everyone and thank you for your comments and feedback!

Today there is a small update - the primer has dried.

I'm glad you like the wireframe.

Field improvisations of the crew are the best and in this case: watch out for the tracks and safety first 🤓

The Tamiya primer gives a nice uniform surface to the cast texture of the turret and mortar👍
The next step is to mix SCC 15 😋

See you!

Hello and good morning to all

Today a short update from the Churchill.

Over the weekend I worked on the base coat again (a bit darker), applied highlights and painted the details in acrylic.

I have also ordered various ammo shaders and will give them a try.
After this the next step is clear coat Tamiya TS 79, then decals and weathering.

Have fun!

the base coat for the exhausts should represent galvanized sheet metal with rust spots. the final effect will be painted with oil paints

Hello all

Yesterday I applied the decals, here are a few pictures.
Before and after Tamiya TS 79, now everything is ready for weathering 🤗
Concerning the decal medium, I tried several products over years. Depending on the decal quality it worked better and worse.

From now on I only use the 2 in 1 stuff from VMS.
Simply unbeatable, no matter how thick or thin the decal is.
The best thing is, you don't have to wait and pray for a long time, if the decal will stick to uneven surfaces like texture or rivets (painted on effect). You can see the result immediately.

unfortunately the photo is shiny, but honestly: the decal has adapted to the texture
