theplasticsurgeon
Joining in with this CC Lee kit - a new make for me. The kit cost me £4 from TheWorks in 2010. I've heard it compared with the Fujimi Hawkeye - so fingers crossed.
theplasticsurgeon
Parts. It's a big model! Decals, and I've checked - 4 mission markings for its Gulf War contribution.
Scargsy
Some of those decals (like the giant swirl and long thin warning/walkways) look terrifying to me, hope it builds up well!
dnl42
Never heard of this brand, but, it's an E-2C!
rafalbert
I have one of these in the stash so it will be interesting to see how it builds up
theplasticsurgeon
Chucking down here, so no airbrush work on my Interceptors, but some interior decorating on the Hawkeye. And the pilots
theplasticsurgeon
The only other person I've known, who has previously built this kit is fellow BritModeller Gengriz who commented similarities with Fujimi. A model which I've built. So I dug out the Fujimi instructions. Wow! same parts and part numbers, for a lot of the kit. Differences in the windscreen area, propellors, and main undercarriage.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
As mentioned I think it is a Fujimi knock off. A mate of mine tried to build one of these and had trouble getting the glue to hold the plastic together, he was using run of the mill styrene glue. He was getting continual seam splitting, not sure it has been finished to date Good luck with yours Tim

You've probably guessed that I'm still busy with two Interceptor builds at the moment, but I'm going to put the time to good use. I had realised this kit is low quality plastic. Now I'm going to wash the parts and their mating surfaces with washing up liquid. Not normally a precaution that I'd take, but it sounds like good mitigation on this occasion. Normally, if I've got fears about paint sticking because of release agent - I'd wash the assembled model. Edited 20:00 same evening. Parts all washed, and drying. Now that I've really looked, yes cheap flexible plastic - almost like polythene.
theplasticsurgeon
Here are the two pilots in their cockpit. Looking like pair of 8 year olds when the fuselage assembles around them! With Ray's warning, I've added a lot of reinforcement inside the seams, here my assembled wing and fuselage. Dryfitted cockpit.

theplasticsurgeon
Photos of Hawkeyes during Desert Storm, show some aircraft in overall grey. The photos of this one show grey/white with white ailerons and flaps. Out with the airbrush, earlier this afternoon. Humbrol 34 Matt White.
theplasticsurgeon
Panelwashed ready for airbrushing. The windscreen frames on this aircraft are black, combining into the anti-dazzle, so I've painted that area and masked it.

theplasticsurgeon
Demasked, and happy with that. I've just realised to airbrush the wing control surfaces tomorrow.
Jabba
Good work with the paint. Hope that you get the white of the control surface done with no problems.
theplasticsurgeon
Masked up earlier this morning, ready to airbrush the flaps and ailerons. Then demasked and touch-ups completed, and de-icer boots applied by brush.
CliffB
The white ailerons always transform these gull grey schemes. Looking good!
theplasticsurgeon
Screwtops! VAW-123 These decals are a bit fragile. They stay together, but are proving a bit difficult to position on the model surface.
