tonyot
Hiya Folks..... here is my conversion of the 1/72nd Hasegawa Mosquito FB.VI into the Australian built PR.40 photo reconnaissance version. Like all Australian built Mossies it has 6 exhaust stacks outboard and 5 inboard so this had to be modified,..... as did the camera fit including the ports and fairings under the nose. The decals came mostly from DK decals, the model was brush painted using Polly Scale PRU Blue,.... The WIP is here,.... done alongside an RAAF Mossie FB.VI and a massive thank you to my friend Peter Malone for his help with research; Cheers, Tony
tonyot
Hiya Folks,..... another completion,..... the 1/72nd Hasegawa TBF-1C Avenger which has been converted to a target tug used post war by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, mainly by removing the turret and blanking over the hole using plastic card. The The small number of aircraft used in this role each had individually different schemes with minor details such as the pattern of the stripes, anti dazzle panel, colour of radio mast, full or partial serials under the wings and later aircraft had the yellow fuselage band and the roundel positions swapped over! The Avenger chosen, NZ2503 was the most colourful as it had a red rudder, but it is also the least well photographed so reference was mainly from a few distant photographic views. In 1957 the roundels of RNZAF aircraft including the Avengers changed from the RAF style to RNZAF `Fern Leaf' roundels but as NZ2503 was ditched in Waitemata Harbour off Whenuapai on 17th March 1956 after an engine failure,...with all three occupants safe 1956......, it never got to wear them! Here is the WIP with some of the research; Cheers Tony

John Masters
ICM Model T Utility truck, The Dead Sea, Palestine, 1918... I think ICM is hitting out of the park with these Model T kits. They are well-engineered and very interesting. I recommend them. In fact, it is a return to 1/35th scale vehicles for me after a 32 year hiatus. Imagine that. The last 1/35th I built was the Tamiya Quad-gun Tractor and an SAS Willys. Yes, desert patrol as well. But I digress. My WiP is here... Here are some pictures... What's next? Something that flies, I think. Jet-like perhaps. --John

CliffB
486 (NZ) Squadron, Hawker Typhoon 1B RAF Tangmere, 1943 This is a 1/96 scale Eaglewall kit, dating from 1958, to which I've added a few details from the current 1/100 scale Victrix Typhoon kit (cockpit interior, cannons and radiator). Most of the decals have come from the Victrix kit too, but I was able to salvage the original Eaglewall squadron codes. The build thread is here, if you'd like to see more. The kit has a number of shape issues - not least with the canopy! Nevertheless, it's a charming piece of British kit history (the recessed panel lines are original 1958 vintage ). tonyot
1/72nd Special Hobby Lockheed Lodestar transport, 40 Sqn RNZAF, used to fly personnel, mail and supplies between New Zealand and the bases in the South Pacific. The aircraft that I have depicted, NZ3515 skidded and crashed upon landing at Norfolk Island on 26th June 1944 while flying mail and ended up on its belly in a ditch! Repaired,.... it continued in service to fly post war as the civilian ZK-AKW and later moved to the USA as N7611. The model was quite a challenge to build and was painted using a rattle can Olive Drab with brush painted Neutral Grey undersides. Here is the WIP; And here is the model; Cheers Tony Edited March 30, 2021 by tonyot

Corsairfoxfouruncle
Hello everyone ... My second of three builds for the group build. Meteor N.F.11/TT.20 WM373 Woomera South Australia 1964. It was an aircraft used for a missile test range aircraft. Ive used the old Matchbox kit, overall not the worst kit, but definitely a case of stretching the molds to far. Olmec Head
Spitfire Vc of 79 Squadron RAAF - 1/72 Sword Kit A Spitfire Vc of 79 Squadron RAAF. It operated from Kiriwana in the PNG area as part of Drake Force. ES307 arrived in Australia in April 43 and was assigned to 79 Squadron in July 43. It was originally modified back to a normal ‘temperate’ air filter. The aircraft was coded as UP-X with a white overscore below and another above the grey X as another aircraft had been made ‘X’ when this one was away for servicing! The Vokes filter was natural metal as a replacement. The aircraft had a bit of a checkered history in and out of 79 Squadron service and back to servicing units through 43, 44 and moved to an OTU in 45. It was SOC in 1948.
