Gulf War GB rules

Recommended Posts

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the major combat phase of the Gulf War.  Known as Operation Desert Storm by the US, it went by other names:  Op Granby in the UK; Op Daguet by France; Op Friction in Canada; Op Damask in Australia.  There were lots of other names as well.

Desert Storm was, in my opinion, the start of modern precision warfare as we know it.  I feel it should be commemorated with a groupbuild.

The GB will commence on Sunday 17 January 2021.    The end date is 9 May 2021.   The GB host is yours truly.

The eligibility rules are as follows:

All coalition equipment that participated during the dates of the war. Some US aircraft carriers were there for Desert Shield (as the Americans called it)  but were not there for the actual war, being replaced by another carrier before the war started.  If you are in any doubt, seek advice in the chat thread.

Iraqi and Kuwaiti equipment that saw combat in the initial invasion.  Equipment used by Iraqi occupying forces during the period of Desert Shield. Iraqi equipment that was used during the period of the war.

Civilian support equipment used for a period of up to six months after the war.

Any scale and media of kit is allowed so long as it is less than 25% complete at the beginning of the GB.  If you are in doubt, please seek advice in the forum chat thread.

A 'WIP' thread for each model should be created in the GB forum.  This should be updated with regular entries showing progress. Directly related subjects may be combined within a single thread.

A gallery is available for the display of models completed within the GB timescale. Each entry in the gallery should have comments about the kit, decals etc as well as a link to the build thread.  There should be no more than five photos in a gallery post.  Please also bear in mind that comments should be posted in the relevant build thread, not the gallery.

Once the GB has been completed we will endeavour to organise a poll where everyone can vote for their favourite model based on gallery entries.

The most important rule is that you have fun.  It's The Law!  :D
