treker_ed
When I built this, and the PR9, I put about 120g of lead just behind the cockpit bulkhead on both models. Found that this was just enough to stop them being tail sitters.

The decals are now on: I missed out a few small stencils, as the decals were almost invisible - even at close range. I will get the model sealed, add the weathering effects, apply a matt coat and glue on all the fragile bits still in the box! The RFI should be soon...

I saw this shot on a Sunday morning and thought “what th….” Last time I saw she was in primer. I don’t know why the post haven’t been popping up but there you are. All caught up now and what a catch up. She’s looking awesome. I read the comment about the “marble” looking underside, that is just the variation you put in and to my eye looks good, maybe next time if you wish add another coat or tighten up the pre shade a little but I thought it looked grand, a wash over that and you’re good to go. 🙌 vinyl masks too! Blu-tac not good enough eh. 🤣 seriously though I’m blown away by how nice she looks. Good luck with the weight issue. All the best. On reflection either of those solutions would have given a better result. I was aiming for tonal variation, but it doesn't look quite as I'd planned... Here's the underside today, after the addition of flaps and gear: The entry door needs painting on the inside, then that will be glued into place - I'm modelling this 'open', for a bit of interest.
Back in the Saddle
Time for a dirty wash! That should bring out some detail when cleaned up.👍

I did - I'm using the dark Flory wash for the glossy areas with panel lines and I'll pop some weathering powders around this area as it has a smooth, matt finish.👍 The model is now cleaned up and awaiting the addition of a few, final pieces. I put her the right way up to test the balance and you guessed it, she's a tail-sitter, despite all the lead!🤐 My first remedial solution was to put some more lead right in the nose, using the entry door for access: However, I don't think I can get enough in there without it being too obvious! Another option was the nose gear bay, but again, this could be seen too easily. My third solution was the supplied tail support: I wonder why Airfix included that!?😁 I don't think the RAF used these at all, but I think I'll have to... That base might need reducing a bit first though!
speedy
I put a strip of cleat stretched sprue just aft of the bomb bay on mine and it’s also not immediately obvious at first glance.

Good suggestion. 👍 For now I will stick with the tail prop, but I might try your idea later. The undercarriage doors were weathered: Then, after cleaning them, the last few bits were glued into position: Time to take some photos and post an RFI!
Back in the Saddle
The RFI for this one is now started - I will hopefully add a few more photos tomorrow: Thanks for all the support along the way! Off to look through the stash now for an easier model to build next time...! 2
The Spadgent
Beautiful finish. Looking forward to seeing the RFI. Your making me feel guilty I haven’t put my batch on the catwalk yet. Maybe today’s the day. ❤️ Wonderful paintwork you have going on here. Really impressive. Bravo. 🙌 Johnny
