Decaling looks great, Ced! 👍 But we’re on the tenth page... 😼

Thanks Nikolay :)

My threads do tend to be longer than most (but not some), mainly due to the friendly conversation so I'm happy!

Page 11 now!

What's going on here?

Lack of forethought, that's what.

I looked at the butt mount (fnaar) for the aerials and thought 'That'll never hold, better use some wire'.

The aerials are tiny so I used my thinnest wire, 0.18mm, drilled some holes with difficulty but without breaking the bit (hooray) and stuck them on the wire with CA:

50889908748_941b289a7b_z.jpg

THEN I realised I couldn't drill holes too deep in the tailplanes so just ended up with a sort of dent:

50890623636_9ee47fe9d3_z.jpg

THEN realised my hands were too shaky to make this easy, but after some fiddling and Anglo-Saxon they're on:

What's the betting I'll knock 'em off when applying some paint?

Future modellers: just use glue, it's easier.

Thanks Giorgio :)

I had a steady hand tonight so decided to stick on some more sticky out bits:

Four little fins on the tailplanes, which I'm reliably told should be angled, not upright, torpedo mounts, the pitot and three aerials.

What do you mean you can't see them all?

How about now?

50891720808_951b7a3d1c_z.jpg

They need painting before the torpedo and rockets go on.

Oh, and the RATOGs:

Once that's all done I will not, of course, be able to pick it up again without knocking something off (fnaar!)…

Thanks hendie - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Get it out with Optrex :D

Sticking things on. Torpedo:

Finally, the props:

Varnish next.

“ Loaded for bear “ as our colonial cousins would say. Very nice, that’ll look splendid on the ceiling.

John

PS One thing that’s always puzzled me about the Wyvern. If contra-rotating propellers where supposed to counteract torque, why did it need such a huge fin?

A few more bits to do before the RFI… not long now.

Almost there, Ced  Looking great, despite of being such an ugly aircraft... :D

Ciao

Thanks Giorgio :)

I think 'imposing' describes it well having stood before the props of the one at Yeovilton.

Maybe not a beauty, but certainly a beast!

You're doing a fine job on this build Ced, and well done for going the extra distance with all of the RATO gear- I've really enjoyed your build thread.

Thanks troffa - let's hope they're still there at the end! :)

Not sure why the fin is so big - matches the rest of it though eh?

Cleaning up the bench I closed the instructions and saw this:

…which pleased me. I've ignored the holes for the bomb / tanks

Satin on and drying:

Nav lights ready:

Another fine job done there by the looks of it Ced.

Well played sir.

What`s next then?

People need to know!!!

Simon.

Skua. I need to progress that before I think of anything else! :D

It's probably going to be something Naval though.

Superb outcome, Ced - looking forward to the catwalk shots in the RFI!

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark, very kind :)

All I needed to do this morning was remove the masking and fit the nav lights.

Sounds easy eh?

I thought so.

But then…

50897030428_bea57511a3_z.jpg

Goes in the category of 'bound to happen' I guess

Pleased with the canopy though, and you can just see that I've coloured the wiper with a Sharpie:

50897042993_f25326e55f_z.jpg

I even remembered to remove the masks from the side windows.

Then the Nav lights.

Tiny.

I tried Canopy glue but it pushed them out too far.

Gator's Grip then.

DO NOT DROP IT or you'll never find it again.

Eventually on, thank goodness.

Ready for RFI when everything's dry:

I suppose there's bound to be a last-minute "aarrrgggghhhhh!" moment, hopefully it was sorted out easily :)

Mark

Thanks Mark, done now :)

Yup, bound to be a last minute aaarrrrgggghhh.

It's all come together beautifully.

Looking forward to the catwalk shots.

Cheers,

Alistair

Thanks Ali - wait no longer :)

Now in the RFI section:

Thanks as always for all the support and companionship during this build - much appreciated :)

A few shots not used in the RFI.

Those RadAlt aerials:

A couple of flying shots as I forgot to take any in the booth. Ignore the background, or pretend it's, like, desert:
