Underside first. Ah, the stripes go over the serials.

lovely stickering Ced.  How did you get the rest of the serial to go under the paint at this late stage?  enquiring minds want to know :P

The art of Lard. An obscure semi martial (or is that mental) skill practiced by Northern Monks and Friars Friers for centuries.

I built the 1/48 scale Classic Airframes Wyvern a few years ago, it was an "interesting" (cough) difficult build. However I'd say that had a moderately easier time of it than you have had with this kit. You have done well with the sorting out of the issues that you have encountered and it is looking really great, I look forward to seeing the RFI post.

The scheme shows both serials the same way up

Don't want to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I think the serials should read outside-in, This was the norm, and all the photos on google that show them seem to be that way too. You have your Ws on the inside and the 7s on the outside, Luckily, the stripes cover most of it, so I won't tell... ;)

Adrian

I don't know you go on Night Shift for a few day and when you come back this is nearly done.😇

It's all looking extremely lovely.

Hope it doesn't get finished off before I finish tomorrow.

Cheers,

Alistair

Thanks Ali :)

I'm not sure it'll be completely finished before tomorrow night, but it'll be close.

I'd just lift the edge of the stripe and slip the transfer under… :penguin:

Arrrrrrggghhh!

I was so concentrated on getting them the right way up I didn't think to make sure they were the right way round, if you see what I mean...

Can't he just lift the stripes again and swivel the stickers around?

Not that easy hendie :(

Sellotape won't lift them:

Scrub pen won't shift them:

50878474798_9e8bdf8848_z.jpg

So I'll have to use a spare 'W' over the top:

50879186626_f786891c08_z.jpg

You know why I got it wrong don't you - all the pictures I found where you can see the underwing serials have the wings folded so the 'W' is 'on the left'.

Idiot.

Ced I wrote this last night but it seems the tablet didn't feel like playing but although it doesn't help now it might in future if your memory box can take it

Sadly so mate!

Underwing serials read "Right wing from the front" i.e as in aircraft flying towards the observer, looking at the starboard/right wing

Hence then left wing reads properly if flying away from the observer.

More of that 'oft remembered tosh' from my distant past but should be visible on the instruction sheet too.

What a shame, and what an absolute b...... that they won't lift, so aggravating. I think you've done a fantastic job on this beast (and I hope it wasn't my comment early on about the Suez stripes that steered you in that direction!) and you're right to repair the "W" and leave as is.

Kind regards,

Mark

I had that in my head… and you can see in the photos that's what I did… BUT

If I may, can I add to your tip:

Underwing serials read "Right wing from the front" when viewed from underneath!

Thanks Mark - don't worry about the steer, I (like others) think it's a striking scheme :)

Have you got any microset Ced - some of that on top of difficult to remove decals often works for me.

Keith

Thanks Keith :)

That's what I'm using to settle the transfers and I must admit they are very nice but it seems, once they're on, they're on!

Port side this morning:

Whata lotta little stencils - ugh!

As usual I used Bill's tip of drops of water on the stencils so you don't lose them in the water:

Done:

Posting that was a quick rest from application.

Other side now.

Well I don't think this is right:

50880153178_48723001c8_z.jpg

I've already put 31 ("Emergency release other side") on the other side so I guess it should be 27.

If they should have been reversed please post - it'll make me sad but help others…

Done:

50881002242_600de30246_z.jpg

Worryingly there are some stencils left over:

50880899936_21ab38873c_z.jpg

I guess they're for other schemes or something.

Nice transfers though.

They went on and settled well, perhaps too quickly with MicroSet.

Nice and thin too.

See how the yellow shows through the white on the roundel… :headbang:

I'll let that dry overnight then I need to paint the exhausts and varnish.

The eternal question - matt or satin?

Thanks Ali - still some sticky out bits to stick on but almost there :)

Not much done today - too many online catchups!

Exhausts are done though:

I've done a tiny touch up after seeing that photo.
