That nose looks like something out of one of those really early, and very weird, Disney cartoons! I'm waiting to see it blow out a table tennis ball or something....

Nicely nosed Wyvern Ced, looking very damned good sirrah.

Thanks Bill :)

Underneath?? Heck, I'm pleased you mentioned THAT!

I think I would have stuck 'em on the top without your comment - cheers matey :)

Masking.

I've cut some 4mm tape for the stripes:

and the remaining 1mm bit was used to mask the demarcation lines on the fuselage then covered with cheap tape:

I reckon I can be careful enough to spray those bits without overspray. <<< Famous last words?

Out with my Colourcoats only AB, a present from PC and Cookie when they came over for 'The Tour':

Done:

I used Jamie's 'thin 50/50 and spray up close at low pressure' method. About 10psi.

Mist coat and then, once all the bits had been done, back to fill in.

Lovely stuff.

No, no, no!

You're doing it all wrong. You want ten coats of brushed translucent yellow, applied over three or four days of mind-numbing boredom and frustration!

(Well that's how I do it)

Looking good, despite your improper techniques ;)

Regards,

Adrian

Hello Ced. Nice work as usual on that. This seems to be a nice detailed kit.  I left this out only for one reason. It's such an ugly plane. Well,  I mean the fuselage looks like a bowed and shaped Bratwurst and the tail fin dosen't make it look smarter. So please a more esthetic one for the next thread and then I'm in again of course.

Cheers

I don’t seem to be able to keep up with you at the moment. Now I’ll go back to the beginning and read it properly.

John

Not to worry John, I've slowed down a bit (see below) :)

It is a nice kit Ben, few problems so far :)

Yep, that's it… autopilot engaged! :D

Little progress as I address this mojo killer:

You can see I've done the wings and, maybe, have the stripes in the same place on both… although the bit sticking up near the ailerons may give me away.

I've put some 4mm tape on top of the fuselage to guide the stripes but it beat me - I'll come back to it when I have some patience.

And don’t forget the mandatory stuck hair and fingerprint at least one per panel.

The wing strips look fairly parallel. But the fuselage masks actually need to be a parabolic shape. What I’d do (ahem) is cover the whole fuselage band with masking tape, pencil in the stripes then remove the tape, neatly cut out the stripes and reapply or use to make masks in kabuki paper or similar. Just sayin

The Blackburn Aeroplane Company. Who, imaginatively, called it the Blackburn Blackburn.

Ah, did they have a pond there nearby, where the engineers had spent their lunch break then?

Cheers

Edit:  Pete, not to be misunderstood: Just to watch the tadpoles there doing their rounds in the pond.

Get ye to Specsavers you evil creature!  :hanging:That is one of the best examples of aeronautical pulchritude ever to make it into production.

Or maybe I shouldn’t laugh in the face of an irate Martian.

I might add that I love both these aircraft and both will ( hopefully) wend their way into my collection in due course. Hmm haven’t done an interwar build in a long time. Must see how the wip is looking in the spring, possibly after the Me109 STGB.

You don't actually need to; what I mean is that you can drill holes and put pins on one side, and drill bigger (receiving) holes on the other. That way they just need to be more or less aligned, still leave you room for adjustment and, filled with, say, CA once you commit to bonding, they'll give you a much more resistant joint (you'll still use TeT for the mating surfaces). HTH

Ciao

I was just about to write this then I saw Giorgio’s post. He knows his stuff that one. Regardless your method works too. 😇 Lovely custard you have there dear boy. If it’s the fuselage stripes that worry you. Don’t you have Tamiya tape for curves. That’ll work too. 🤔

Many happy memories of that time. The thought of a return to plague you yet again and force you to eat unhealthy breakfasts until the floorboards protest sustained me through all last year.

The Wyvern is coming along quite well, Buffers! I've always had a soft spot for Suez Crisis aircraft.
