That's useful information to any of us planning a Danish AF project in the future @Jens thank you

You're welcome.
As simple as it is when it comes to the dimensions of the roundels it's also a thing most decal designers fail to do correctly.

Some more work on the roundels.

I painted the red (mixed with a touch of light gray to ‘fade’ it)

Then I hatched a cunning plan. I cut the white ovals from old decals and then applied them, saving masking and painting them, and hence being able to align them better.

I think they worked out pretty good.

This detail shot shows one and also a reapplied R, all the bubbling is from wet microsol.

I applied the same philosophy to the flag’s - I think its ok IRL, macro isnt so kind.

And another small update for today

i made some stencil data, the yellow arrow and box to represent that shown in my reference.

i made it from cutting up yellow parts from old decals to make the shapes and then a random text stencils inside

the warning triangles are from my hasegawa scooter decal set.

the airbrake housings have been painted this evening and the gear all constructed and painted minus wheels.

We are getting somewhere. Glad theres an extension though 🙂

These danish starfighters do seem to lack a lot of stencil data. My references show virtually none.

Looking good Paul. I am glad you stayed with it.

I keep promising to buy myself a stepless circle cutter. Maybe your build will make me do it.

When I read this I thought this is reason enough to build this subject.

Its all had a coat of windsor and newton matt varnish now

I really like it when a matt finish goes on, it adds so much atmosphere to it in the flesh.

I do like the weighted wheels kinetic supply.

I just have a small list ahead of me now:

Oil work on everything,

the wheels and a few antennas to paint, and a wash on the wheels.

a little touch up on the main gear doors, and a couple of other tiny places.

And the glass pieces to install.

...And a few little chips here and there with a new addition to the tool armourey 🤗

yay the end is close!

Paul this is looking absolutely brilliant mate.

I am so glad that you didn't give up on this, you have tackled the markings very well and the results are great.

With the matt coat it has definitely taken a big step towards the final look of the real thing.

Thanks a lot craig, that’s really kind.
we’re getting there slowly.

looking great!

those pencils look interesting! :)

Thank you 🙏

the pencils are good to do chipping, as rather than just a silver, you can get a more subtle effect with a greeny silver on green paint, well thats supposed to be the idea anyway.

Well i did a bit of chipping eith the pencils this evening and now she stands on her own feet (and i only knocked off one aileron in the process - result!)
All the oil work has been done, and the drop tanks installed too.

I’ve neglected the underside to a degree so perhaps that needs a bit more weathering.

This is really one sunbleached bird!

Hurrah she’s finished fellas!...
...well.. sort of - The numerals on the starboard side have silvered badly so I’ve took them off and will reapply new ones there so theres no photographs of that side currently but I’ll take some in good time but too all intents and purpose we’re done. Not sure what I think of this one.

  • Dansk changed the title to Danish CF-104D #finished#

Thanks guys thats kind of you. I’m a bit blind to it, I spent too long on it I think and all the mistakes scream at me when I look at it.

Here’s the bad side: the silvering numerals are acclearated heavily by the hard flash and actually the no step also. So I cant live with that. I stripped them off and will reapply.
