TIGER HOBBIESLIMITED
As most of you know we have now a deal that covers mainly goods imported with no tariff But there will be extra costs We must look at what went on before first While we were in the EU Any UK hobby shop/On Line Store could buy their Hobby Products from any where in EU in any qty and any brand from any distributor, with no paperwork other than a Invoice and basic shipping, with no other admin what so ever. This gave the opportunity for even the smallest UK Hobby shop to get very specialist products from the smallest suppliers any where in the EU and give you the chance to buy or the choice to buy. What Happens now we have left. First thing trade can still go on, but admin costs such as customs clearance is going to make the smaller purchases a lot more expensive. The main problem is volume of good imported, for example more you import cheaper it is in shipping and admin over each item imported. Our Imports from China/Hong Kong are on the whole large for us up to $80,000 on each container, so cost are spread like Jam. Our EU imports are generally quite small may be Euro 1,000 to 3,000, as this was no different than buying from in the UK say from a wholesaler or another UK importer, while in the EU. The size of your EU purchase did not matter as there was hardly any admin costs other than a bit of shipping, so smaller or specialist ranges were viable. But the import admin cost (NOT SHIPPING) can be the same as a $80,000 load so it may be the case it no longer viable on smaller imports on some ranges. We will be doing some test imports on some ranges so we can see what are the extra cost, we know what will cost but at the moment we don't know how much it will cost, until the first post EU loads land EU purchases come by truck, and these cost may go up quite a bit as the haulage companies will have to pass the costs on, and may still be working out their own costs. We should see this sorted out one way or another in the next 3 or 4 weeks and the EU brands that will stay and those that will be dropped.
