The car next to the Rover P5 , isn’t that a rare Rover the name of which escapes me !  Carbon body and a big engine if I remember .
Gary .

MG SVR?  Based on a failed attempt to revive De Tomaso IIRC with a Ford V8 (4.6 litres like the MG ZT 260, I think).

Sadly, because it was going 'tother way and it's a bit narrow round there, not much detail, but...

21 reg Ferrari; looking at their current model list, either a 296 or an SF90, in black.

When I was making a drink earlier today at work I looked out of the kitchen window just as a light metallic blue Mercedes-Benz Pagoda SL drove past, it looked lovely and sounded equally good.

Another black Ferrari here too, this time a GT4c Lusso. Also, on the back of a truck, a pre-restoration Lotus Eclat.

But best spot today wasn't a car, or even a vehicle, but karma in action. Cyclist, on the pavement and with his mobile phone to his ear collided with a road sign...

I'm beginning to think some of you like @johnlambert live on some sort of dedicated classic car test route. I can't see anything from my office window but quite often hear interesting noises. There must be something afoot beyond the long grass...

Saw a rare bug-eyed Ford Scorpio Estate at Sainsbury's Leek yesterday though. Does that count?

You really had to wonder what Ford were thinking . The Mk3 Granada was a really attractive car , then they decided to facelift it into that .

I should have taken a photo of that candy striped Scorpio limo when I saw it.  It even had eyelashes on the headlamps.

To be fair, I probably do live in prime classic spotting territory.

My office is close to several garages; two French car specialists, a BMW specialist, Austin Healey specialist and a couple of general garages that seem to attract a lot of interesting cars. There is even an Aston Martin specialist, but I suspect most of their cars are transported in covered wagons.

My home is on a scenic but still fairly direct route between Stratford and Banbury, that parallels the M40 but is more classic friendly. Plus there are lots of places nearby to attract day trippers. It's not the main reason that I live where I do, but it's certainly a bonus.

Sorry, not "Cyclist" - idiot riding a bike is the correct identifier. It's people like that that give good cyclists like me (I don't go on the pavement and I don't go on my mobile,; neither BTW, do I ride across red lights) a bad name.

I wonder how many "sighting's" would be posted if photographic proof was a prerequisite?🤔 [those who have are excused] I post this whilst staring at a Metro 6R4 doing a hot lap of the park opposite. No, really! Damn my camera's battery is flat...🤣

Strange comment.  Do you think people invent them just to have something to post? 🙄   I generally only see them when I'm driving and don't have a dash cam.  Out of interest, I used Google Street View to look up some of the recent spots where I've seen cars parked outside properties:

The chap with the lime green Clubman, Standard, A40 etc. This capture shows the place when he had a couple of Jags, a Spridget and the Berkeley 3 wheeler.

spot1-vi.jpg

Minor and Sierra estate, here in 2019 but still parked in the same positions in 2021.

spot2-vi.jpg

A '70s GMC motorhome that I pass regularly, but don't think I've mentioned on here.

spot3-vi.jpg

Van man's house.  He now has 5 or 6 parked around there.

spot4-vi.jpg

Another Minor - there is normally a second one a hundred yards further on, but it's not on street view.

spot5-vi.jpg

Another local with a revolving collection.  Last time I passed, the T-bird has been replaced by a white Corvette. He also has a Porsche and a '70-ish Chevy pickup.

Interesting! I'm too embarrassed to say that last Saturday week we had Renault doing a marketing display in the middle of town with a new A110 and, under an awning, an Alpine F1!!! No camera with me, so didn't.

Not at all, I'm sure all sightings are genuine, it just seems to me a bit pointless. A bit like a spot the ball competition without a photo to place the X? I realise that many sightings are made when one is unable to take a photo. The comment was rather tounge-in-cheek [hence the emojis] I'll get my coat...

Fair enough, the humour was missed,  🙃  I'm still interested to hear what people have seen, with or without photos... I'll probably get a dash cam sooner or later anyway - sometimes I feel like I must be driving an invisible car.

Didn't mean to offend, to me a 'cyclist' is someone riding a bike. I agree with you that 'prat on a bike' would have been an equally good description. (This from someone who used to do quite  abit of bike riding before injuring his knee on the TPT then moving down south).

Today's unusual spots on the school run (sorry, no pics 🤷‍♂️) - a Y-reg Reliant Rialto, a rubber bumper MGB in a lovely BL brown, and a stretched Hummer in white 🤢.

And with that you've just described a build I'll be doing over the winter, just starting to get it ready for paint now! Rover Russet Brown already purchased from Halfords...

For work I inspect pressure systems, steam boilers, compressed air systems etc often the energy from these devices is supplied to something that isn't that exciting or unusual.   However today was my favourite job of the year when I get to inspect these beautys  😍  💕

First up a 1902 Locomobile

p?i=eb7a70dac8d203dea7ef5222964a1cff

As you can see this is very early on in the history or the motor car and really is just a horseless carriage

p?i=a87f7dbdbd4b473d9eaff9376fb8b5af

Although technically its mid engined 😆😆

p?i=219f678087ea6dc63768c99edd36ccf3

This was followed up by the 1910 Stanley

p?i=c592435f0cf9ddfab07b948a0a4ace4d

Now the real incredible thing about this car is that the owner has let me drive it!!  p?i=7d3765948d87d05cee26c06ee0e2abda

p?i=34b1c0e6647f6d13a808cb41db63ed74

p?i=ae8a0baecbffee162bddab6741f79c64

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better the owner announced he had brought a new one! A 1924 Brooke, only 6 are known to survive and out of these only two are operational and this is the most original and possibly the most original steam car in existence!

p?i=d3b55639fbc7f60e435f4dbca57236a2

p?i=0f9e7900abf5bdacce9e6e38497d675e

p?i=9d7ec39d710951ebe4699b4161d1ac71

The boiler, (sorry poor photo) which operates around 475 psi and burns vaporised petrol!

p?i=245db0518df2cfece4ca155f269e7ab4

And finally the coolest horn in the world of any car

p?i=d0586e74434a5ad60a3d4c1a929ce684

I know technically its not a spot as I was going specifically to see these cars, but I thought this was interesting enough for you all to forgive me.

Finally I know he's not going to see this but I would like to thank the owner for letting post these photos. Andy

@Toftdale, thanks for posting these photos. They're all great, but the third photo of the Locomobile is especially useful for thinking about how to paint and weather the various metals in early cars. I can see some of this weathering being useful for the new Model Factory Hiro Alfa Romeo P2. Now if only one would appear in my mailbox....
