Spot of the day, Part 4

Been to Doncaster today and two classic Fords ; a C plate Capri 1.6 Laser in maroon and an F plate Escort mk4 in red . On such a hot day I was smiling at seeing these old classics , but also at how warm their interiors must have been without air conditioning !

That Chinese Eye Cloud Coupe is my favourite rolls. I would love one.

Today I had to settle for and 87 plate Polo in beige, and a 63 plate Mk1 Cortina GT 4 door in orange with a gold roof and stripe.

One of the more ironic spots today (while following a top-down Ferrari Superamerica I guess I should add). But coming the other way was an Austin Metro van on a J-plate (looked older, but I checked and apparantly they kept the van going in the upright headlight version for a while after the car). But the ironic thing about it was that it was liveried up as a recovery van - can't imagine it would be much good for towing. 😆 And of course, today I forgot to put the dashcam in. :(

I've managed a couple of good spots while I was out.  A left-hand drive Porsche 911 (1991 H-reg) which I think might have been a Carrera RS.  There was also a Tuc-Tuc, which I don't think I've ever seen on the road before.

Then, from my living room window, I spied a Citroen Traction Avant driving past.

Took the completed 1:1 scale Fiesta out on its first run out today.

About 170 miles in total in 30 degree heat on our motor club's classic car run starting and finishing at Papplewick Pumping Station  north of Nottingham.

Event ended with a flypast courtesy of the BBMF's C47.

Wow those Mercedeses scream more money than taste.

I'd say you can't complain about the weather you got, and certainly much better than rain, but I know too that too hot can be bad when you're in a tent too. Glad you enjoyed it, must have been nice to get back to something resembling normal.

You hit the nail on the head mate regarding normality very enjoyable indeed 👍. This trip was also a stag party for my cousin which meant that way more alcohol was consumed than normal and trip's up to the stage to see the live band's were compulsory 😉. A nice distraction but now it's back to the real world....now where did I put that glue and paint 🤔 👍

I had to get milk this afternoon and was rewarded with the sight of a Wedgwood blue Ford Zephyr Mk. III (the one with the fins); probably on its way back from the Old Ford show at the British Motor Museum.

Coming out if the supermarket the other day, another Mk II Triumph 2500 TC, red this time, the crew looked old enough to be the original owners, parked as it was in a disabled park spot. Almost certainly locally assembled from the glory days when we had a car industry. It was wearing a set of Hotwire type alloys, from memory these were an option at the time being also Kiwi made.

Hi all

Went to Headcorn Aerodrome yesterday morning for a Retros meet , took the Fastback along,  saw some nice vehicles.

Is this a Ford Taunus?

This 56 bug had a 1641 and is pristine on the underneath had the accessory rally timing Omega stop watch and the dash clock in the centre is from a Mig plane!

An interesting line up there Chris, probably a Taunus but not something we see a lot of, the Rover looks nice, the Escort estate looks like more show that go & the mini van, bloody nora, what was under that?

Hi Steve, yes I have not seen a Taunus for many years, it was good to see one again .

Didn't get over to the Mini only in passing to snap a shot as my son and I needed to get out of the sun as it was very hot. It was certainly a beast though.

Around here in north Bristol, there is a guy who has a working (!) DeLorean. Now, in addition to the DeLorean, he now has a 67/68 Reliant Scimitar Coupe (It's a G plate), in a bronzy/gold colour sitting on his front lawn. Looks a lot ratty! Obviously a restoration job waiting to happen.

Cheers,

Alan.

Yes exceedingly cool indeed.  The whole car was lovely,  I know rat look isn't for all, but it's 65 yrs old and mint now underneath,  running a tuned 1641cc motor which is very peppy. Great fun at traffic lights.  Would love this bug.

Lincoln to Cambridge early this morning via the fens (March area)

A Standard 8 just as we left Lincoln.

Glimpsed a Thames Trader lorry in a yard.

Slightly ratty red Jaguar S type on a fen garage forecourt.

The car next to the Rover P5 , isn’t that a rare Rover the name of which escapes me !  Carbon body and a big engine if I remember .
