Hi John,  I take my hat off to you sir, once again you've proved that you're knowledge of obscure cars is second to none.   This was another vehicle I'd never heard of,  but with the benefit of Google you quite clearly correct (again 😉) - Andy

@johnlambert, Hi John,

Thanks for the information!  quite an interesting car indeed!  I should have made more effort to talk with the guy.  I'm familiar with that Buick V8 - and considering the big, circular air cleaner, it sure appears to be a good candidate for what's under the hood -

Cheers

Nick

I haven't seen a road going Escort of any Mk for a looooong time....

We still get the odd one out here, I saw one just a few days back, I know its local because I see it from time to time, Mk 2 Sport in  Silver Mist, I think that is the colour, I had one the same back in 1980-81 but with vinyl roof :shrug:, not my first choice but what was on the floor after my first one was written off. This one is immaculate with the correct spots & a black boot lid spoiler. I get a bit excited every time I see it. :)

@Stickframe Hi Nick,

That looks like an Apollo 500GT, an obscure car with Italian styling and American V8 power.

That's what I call expertise, I'm impressed. And what a rare bird.

Myself I had to google he Ferrari Shooting Brake I just saw when went for dinner with my beloved wifey, wait, it's the, Wikipedia, Google, give me a sec... it's the 612 Scaglietti. And there was a 348. Or, my favourite, the 308, in silver - what a colour. And some Maserati convertible....

I live nearby Schloss Schönbunn in Vienna, and there's a lot of beautiful cars here. I won't post a simple Ferrari here in the future, but if maybe there would be, say, a Jensen Interceptor...

Pretty terrible and frightening, but I'm intrigued by the dashboard message "Can't continue journey, contact dealership immediately" - sounds a bit like the dog might do if it was tired on a walk, but not a very explanatory message!

A masterly piece of understatement isn't it, when "stop now & bail out, the car is about to erupt in flames" would sound more appropriate. Apparently when an E vehicle battery (Li-ion?) has a runaway reaction, nothing short of dumping it into a swimming pool will contain it. :( Not for me, especially seeing that the best I'm likely to afford will have been around the block a couple of times. :unsure:

Not for me,

Me neither, but it doesn't look like we're going to have any choice in the matter in 5 years or so..... :rant:

TBF, I've seen petrol cars do that - with no dashboard warning either!!

And that ''Mustang'' - absolutely flippin' awful thing.

Yeecchh, not a real car then :) :D

Ok I know, luddite me, but cars that can spontaneously do this sort of thing have no place in my future hopefully.

Steve.

I'm glad everyone's ok but these modern electric and plastic cars make it easy for the recovery vehicles,going by what's left in the last photo all you need is a pickup/shovel and couple of dustbins....

Shooting brake ones... the FF? Or GTC4Lusso? The one Ferrari would buy if I can only buy one car for the rest of my life.

... No engine rumble either.😀

I've heard that in sports mode (or whatever) they "play" V8 sounds in the cockpit, according to accelleration.

Well, maybe there's a specific target audience for this very feature, but I do feel it quite hard to find words for this that are approbriate in this forum...

One of these two, I can't remember. But these definitely are among the most beautiful cars build since, say 2010...

I'd like to know what they're going to do about the outside,we all know pedestrians like to wonder out/cross roads whenever they feel like it so what happens when they can't hear what's coming towards them (i'm not going to mention cyclists because unlike pedestrians they don't walk around with a phone stuck to their ear or texting)....

...at least not all of them. We have parts here in Vienna - just don't ask.

I think it would rather be a decent hum rather than a subwoofer below the car recreating V8-rumble. 😉

They just ride around with ear phones and thinking they own the road....Not sure about the hum from the car,the V8 would be nice for the outside and waste gates from a Turbo would be nice,the harder you floor it the louder it is (that'd wake up/terrify a few pedestrians)...

On foot for a change, so I managed to get a photo.   I looked it up and it's the base V6 model, so not a proper one.  😜

Didn't know they did a V6 Challenger.

Somehow, that doesn't strike me as menacing looking as the SRT that lives round the corner from me. Must get a photo and post it so you can see what I mean.

Apparently it still needs polishing! Quite frankly, I'd be nervous taking it out onto the Queen's Highway given the parlous state of the road network and all the twonks that use it...
