... and an H plate Cortina 1600E in dark purple

Hah! That reminds me . . .

When I was in my teens, I had a part-time job working at the Co-op; 1 hour a day after school plus four hours Saturday morning. The Manager had a white Cortina 1600E and I was regularly asked to wash and clean it on some of those Saturdays . . . 😎

I have a feeling that I shouldn't like that - but I really do, it looks great! :)

Thanks very much.  Our local Mini specialist had the colour custom mixed, so it's a "one off" paint job.

At the weekend I was given a small stack of MOTOR magazines from 1972. They make interesting reading.

Comments about compulsory wearing of seat belts! And the build quality of new cars ('Had to have this/that door rehung so it would close properly')

The new Mk3 Cortina was criticized for the instruments being so low down (fair comment) the New 1500 Avenger Estate was praised for interior space.

A new Mexico was around 1200 pounds, a BMW 2002 Touring 2100! A 1.8 Marina Coupe gave 32 mpg overall whereas a 2000 Cortina did around 24.

And component reliability wasn't expected to be that good. Clutch & brakes around 13,000 miles. Gearbox/engine rebuilds were common too. Nostalgia eh?

Saw what i thought was a mk1 Lexus ,  but was actually a Honda Legend  . Private plates , probably mid 90s . Can't have been many of those sold in this country .  Good condition as well .

One of those cars which I haven't seen for years (probably about 20 years if I'm honest) - an absolutely immaculate red Renault 11 on a D-plate coming the other way this morning. That's one car I haven't even seen when travelling in France, let alone over here.

Bit of a weird moment today, I was following a truck with what looked like newly painted (red) Ford shell on the back.  I was racking my brain to try and remember the model, just as  the word Orion popped into my head a dark silver one drove past the other way!

Mini mk2 slightly modified as in rally / fast road. 50 yards later and abandoned against the kerb, an old green Morris Minor with wide Minilites (or similar). Then an old Daimler of some sort; a big saloon but pre Mk2 Jaguar era. And this afternoon, a Ferrari 512 BB.

BMW turning left with the left hand indicator working, assumed it was borrowed

Very rare I thought you had to buy those things extra, like our local Range Rovers and Mercedes. The Tesla drivers are very good though, but you can't use them too much as it flattens the batteries, as does the heater and radio!

I heard something "fruity" approaching along the main road that passes my flat, and turned around in time to see a classic Mini in Tartan Red with black roof and a set of 10-inch Minilites drive past.  No idea if it was a genuine Cooper S or what mark of Mini, but it was nice to see and hear all the same.

A little British invasion to my hometown. BAC and Morgan recently opened their first retail and service centre in Indonesia, so BAC and Morgan Indonesia did a little roadshow in several big cities, starting with Jakarta last month and my hometown yesterday.

Perhaps less of a 'spot' since my team lend some helping hands for the coverage but a nice photo nonetheless.

I almost forgot, I also spotted a red Cobra (replica, probably) with white stripes.

What a coincidence! A blue one for me yesterday morning followed not long after by an MGB roadster.

Gorgeous Plus Four, not gonna lie. In the most retro of specs, with wire mesh wheels, spare wheel rack and Cibie spotlamps. Cannot wait for the Plus Six to make its way here.

Light blue Triumph Dolomite coming through our village . My dad had one in the 70s , as a courtesy car , when the brand new Allegro Estate ( I know .... ) had to go back to have split battery acid under the rear carpets sorted out !  Good old BL .
