Spot of the day, Part 4

A white 2CV today, parked up in a very rough car park which would probably have been made for something which can cross a ploughed field without breaking eggs. Also from the 1980s (and also commonly seen on farms in days gone by) was a Daihatsu Fourtrack.

And to add to that, a brace of G-reg Lotus Elans - a white one from 1970 on the road and a blue one from 1990 at B&Q.

The road trip didn't disappoint. Let's see how much I remember.

Citroën DS, post 1967 style.

Triumph Stag on a recovery truck.

DeTomaso Pantera late car with flared arches and big spoiler.

Ferrari Testarossa

Mercedes W126 S class and a couple of R107 SLs.

Today's spotting got off to a good start.

First was a car that I couldn't identify (which I like to think is unusual).   It was left-hand drive, probably 1920s, looked like a slightly larger Ford Model T and had a badge that I think was a dark blue rectangle with a white diagonal running top right to bottom left.  It was a four seat, phaeton-style tourer and looked like it had just aged gracefully from the day it was new (flat paint, surface rust) but evidently still capable of venturing onto the road.

could it have been an early Buick, they don't have a Diagonal line but they have the text in a diagonal in white.

A couple of days ago, a reasonably tidy Citroen Xantia.
Seems in daily use, as I have spotted it few times lately.

Rare these days...

Cheers,

Alan.

A beautifully kept and original split screen Morris Minor at the lights this arvo. Judging by the way he took off, it didn't have the 883cc flat head under the bonnet. Not in a 'hoon' manner, I hasten to add, just keeping up with the traffic flow.

Echo @johnlambert's Buick, by the way.

Three in the space of a ten minute journey this morning:

1. A pre-'63 Morris Minor

2. A Sunbeam Talbot 90 in cream over burgundy

3. A Talbot Sunbeam in light metallic blue with silver stripes (Lotus version?)

A Sunbeam Talbot and then a Talbot Sunbeam half a mile apart- what are the odds?

Not as many interesting cars today but some absolute belters all the same.

A 1990s Bentley Continental R (I think it was an R) with wide, Continental T wheel arches, a 1980s Aston Martin V8 Vantage in green and a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in champagne with brown Everflex vinyl roof.

Goodness - I don’t know how some of you see so much in a day!

I’ve ventured no further than three miles from home today. One little trip was two miles - on my return and waiting at a junction, a white Mk1 Escort came around the corner - probably a Mexico. So local and yet I’ve never seen it before so need to ask around . . .

A varied bunch today.  Firstly, on the A1M near J15 going southbound, a McLaren (not sure which sort) with the rather appropriate registration of OOII YES.

A short while later near the junction with the A14, a pair of very large military APC type vehicles in desert sand colour, each with a massive framework around the outside that looked as though it was made from very heavy duty angle iron (any ideas?).

Finally, just north of Stansted, heading north, a pale blue Mini pickup on a transporter and Mini saloon on the trailer it was pulling.  Both were rolling shells - no windows, lights, etc.

Over the weekend I saw a 1964 Volvo P1800 . Unusually , it was wearing chrome wire wheels which really suited it .

This morning I was followed down the Shavington bypass by a Ferrari 348 .

Whilst testing my legs by cycling laps of Chelmer Village:

Lap 3 - 1972 Rover 2000TC in brown, sounded and looked very nice.

Lap 4 - 'G' reg red  Quattro coupe. Sounded like it should, quite high on the rev band, but did smell a bit "hot oily".

Saw a Triumph Stag this lunchtime . It was on an S plate so must have been one of the last . Looked to be in really good condition, but it was in that diabolical brown colour which rather spoiled it .

Hello gents,

I wish I could say I spotted this, but no, I didn't  - my friend from Portland Oregon did! she text'd it to me yesterday - taunting me about the lovely weather they are enjoying right now!

I'm guessing, a '66 to '68 (?) Jeep Wagoneer:

If nothing else, a great photo!  couldn't have asked for better or more uniform contrast of nice colors!

Cheers

Never been a RR fan, but I do like that colour!

I agree, but it was a bit of a surprise to see it.  The colour is nice - SWMBO had a Mini Mayfair in a similar colour a few years ago.  It has subsequently been rebuilt, and is now lilac!
