The Spadgent
Good evening everyone. Today has had many things. Dickens, Gardening, dog walks, cooking dinner, a bit of a relax and more importantly Model making. This wonderful kit, my second Zvezda has come to and end. I’ll make one last post just before I do the RFI and a sign off so I’ll keep all the fluff till then. Here’s what happened today. The rockets got put together which was fun as I had no location points. Before adding all the weapons I did the final weather pass of grime and filters. I love this bit on models that I want to be that extra bit worn. I’m using AK steaks and grime stuff. First it looks like this. You paint on where you roughly want the tone to be. looks real scrappy. Then you use a dry cotton bud and blend it all in. You can use white spirit to get it all off if you wish but I find a dry bud just fine. don’t forget if you’re going to try this it has to be over a gloss coat. You can see the same subtle hues going on over the camo. the rocket pods got added as you’ve probably noticed along with the wiring that was added using 0.2 mm lead. And curled into place. The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that the rear aerials have been added. Here’s a handy blue card shot. Every time I thought I’d got all the bits done what did I find I needed to add? Grrrr more bits. look at this little sausage! So that got glued on too. So many bits to knock off it’s quite the mine field. There she blows right at the front. She looks like some kind of CrAzy insect. Right time for a flat coat. Two passes of Tamiya TS 80. And tother side. ( I’m beginning to think I took too many pics. ) Hmmmm what’s next. Oooh right masks. A few stressful minutes later we can see the insides again. there is quite a bit of glass I’d forgotten about. And everything is so tiny. I used Tamiya oil wash on the edges to make the windows pop. Getting there!!!! More rocket pods. I had to drill out the holes again as they didn’t quite fit. Now they do I can add more pods!!!! I’m not regretting not using the PE parts. I might do though if @Nikolay Polyakov’s ones end up being bloody amazing. No pressure*. Here they are from behind. Look what I forgot. Mmmmmmmmore bits. yes the lights. One on the tail and one on each winglet. And added. here’s the one on the tail. I also added some EZ line to one end of the aerials. Oh aand guess what else I’d forgotten? these. Bloody wiper blades. Ok painted and on. You can just about see them if you squint. By the way don’t ever wear a cable knit sweater while modelling. One of those oh so tiny wipers is now lost to the mobile carpet monster. I replaced the lost one with wire. The other end of the wires got glued in place. The door (that I’d forgotten about) got added along with all the rotors. and that’s about it in a nutshell. She’s going in the cabinet until I get some time for the RFI I’ll probably start up a new build before that so I’ll post that up in here too. Thanks for tagging along friends. As I said I’ll do a sight off before I post up the RFI so that’s it for tonight. Hope you’re all having a splendid weekend and I hope you’ll join Me for my new build. All the best and as always. Happy modelling. Johnny. * If they do end up amazing keep em to yourself eh.

opus999
Wow Johnny. Truly amazing! This is one seriously beautiful build -- awesome looking aircraft, masterfully rendered. I have to say the "mmmmore bits" bits were making me laugh because I felt your pain. It seems like all the build-ending details are the most tedious and yet are the ones that provide the most realism. Terrific work my friend. 2

Then repeated the same pattern second time! On 04/04/2022 at 00:57, The Spadgent said: I also added some EZ line to one end of the aerials. It’s about 400 parts with all these additions. *As for the PE parts for launchers - I haven’t used it. These cool things requires soldering and I don’t have such an elegant soldering iron. But it’ll be challenging to do something like this - next time! Not so close to an RFI, but small progress is still progress! Have a nice week! Edited April 5, 2022 by Nikolay Polyakov It was a bit clumsy post, now it isn’t. I hope... 1

VT Red Sox Fan
Johnny, Incredible Hind build—really liked how you sorted out the rocket podsNo, seriously, I really like how they came out—the various wires really are eye catching. Really like what you did with the AK grime stuff—it was great see how not using white spirit works with AK’s washes—looks the biz. Of course, I still dig the rotors—it’s hard to pick likes in such a spectacular overall build—best, Erwin
Marklo
Looks good. Must try to get another hind in. I use the AK stuff all the time on armour and don’t bother with a gloss coat and it works just fine. This is AK rust followed by AK grime and winter streaking grime and then crushed chalk pastels ( various greys and browns) mixed with white spirit for the dust on the tracks and running gear it’s over a Matt 4BO mix.
