Mosquito carrier trials

Hi all,

Not sure if this image has really been seen before as a google search doesn’t really come up with much.

I’m not sure as to the origin of it but it is in a box of photographs that was given to me by my granddad who served in the Fleet Air Arm during WW2 as a photographer. He was deployed in the Pacific theatre after completing training in the States.

From reading his little diary that he kept the photograph isn’t his as he was deployed in the Pacific whilst I believe Eric Brown was doing the trials in the Clyde. I only came across the Mosquito trials by chance whilst reading “Wings on my sleeve” (excellent read by the way).

If there is anyone that can help shed light onto the photo it would be intriguing to find out the origins etc.

If anyone would like to see any other photos that my granddad left me I’ll be happy to post some up.

Thanks,

James

I remember reading an article from Eric Winkle Brown who said it was fairly difficult to land as the approach speed and stall speed were very similar!
