Beautiful job on this kit!  I remember seeing these aircraft lined up on the ramp at ATL back in the early 90's.  Those were the days, when there was such a surge in air travel, that United and Delta brought them out of storage and found it economic to re-engine them with the CFM-56.  Alas, I never got to fly on them in this guise.  I did, however, fly on a JT8D-powered DC-8-61 or -62 to the States from Germany back in 1979.  It conveyed the impression of elderliness even then!

Wow... outstanding, clean build. I like it a lot! I have one in my stash also, not confident enough yet to tackle it.... Your work is certainly inspiring. Thanks, olli

Thanks for the comment! It is a easy build and the parts fit well. I added lights and antennas. Decals were great. Go for it!

Very nice build, Mark. Thank you for sharing. I am sure that you found, as all of us that have built this kit, that the Minicraft DC-8s are a great addition to the fleet of 1/144 airliners...a very good kit that is clear and concise, with good fit and accurate detail. And here, you have done her well! Nice job!

Must have missed that.

Superb build of this Douglas classic.Must love the DC-8.

The Minicraft kit is great

I flew as a kid back in the 80s in a DC-8-53

and the last time in 1992 in a DC-8-63 from BSL-MBA with African Safari Airways. It also included a visit to the cockpit, yes that was possible in those days.

Great aircraft, quite loud in the cabin compared with todays jets, esp. after landing when the thrust reversers were deployed. But I enjoyed every minute flying on her.

Unforgettable memories of a great aircraft and airline, sure miss those days a lot
