To be precise, Buffalo B-3100, which, according to Hobby 2000, is a B-339C. They say cuffed propeller blades. I've had a look at some photos and I'm unconvinced. Does anybody have an opinion?

The NEI/KNIL (Dutch) Buffaloes were 339D's not C's

Have a look at the NE/KNIL Buffaloes in the link below,

they certainly appear to not have cuffed Propeller blades.

Bear in mind too that at the later stages of the Battle for Singapore/NEI

Islands of Java etc, that the remnant surviving RAF 339E Buffaloes were transferred

to the NEI/KNIL, and they certainly did not have cuffed props

Hope that helps?

I think Alan may be slightly incorrect (which is unusual for him...you can normally take his comments to the bank).

I understand that the ML-KNIL operated both B339Cs (serials B3-95 to B3-118) and B339Ds (B3-119 to B3-167).  The key difference was in the engine, the B339D having the more powerful 1,200hp variant of the Wright Cyclone while the B339C had the 1,100hp engine.

The Dutch airframes definitely did not have cuffed propellers.

Thanks Mark👍

That Folks is a good lesson in not relying solely on memory (especially late at night) and checking your

references before typing
