Cheers, George depends on what you want to do with them, PE and metal parts(white metal?) are slightly different, but if you use enamels, just degrease and use those, they should work fine. If you are using acrylics, try something like thinned Mr Surfacer, or any kind of car primer for metal would work, either by brush or spraycan. (eg Halfords grey primer) metal primer is metal primer after all. For interior PE parts, I have used Tamiya acrylics, these are a 'laquer' acrylic, latex acrylic won't work very well, but the Tamiya worked. It maybe a bit fragile, but if the parts are not going to be touched it's not a problem. Others may have a better answer, it always helps to be specific, as there maybe some aspect of what you want the above has not covered. Geo1966
Just looked for Mr Metal primer on ebay, amazon, etc. Can only find the spray and am looking for a brush paint solution. Are there any other options? I generally use Tamiya or Vallejo acrylics and find if i touch the pe after painting it easily comes off. I am also thinking that in the future i may end up with a model with a metal barrell, so it would be good to have a suitable primer in my box. I currently make 1/35 AFV's. bmwh548
You can decant from the rattle can. The brush can be cleaned with lacquer thinner. I remember that Tamiya has a version as well, but I have no idea what it's called. Something I didn't mention previously: Mr. Metal Primer remains slightly tacky even after drying. When I first used it I didn't know if that's normal, I emailed Gunze and they told me it's designed to stay tacky so paint grips better to it.
Shin
Hey @Geo1966, look up VMS Metal Prep 4K. Brush on metal primer, looks to be exactly what you're searching for. I've only used it for a couple small flat pieces, none of which has needed much handling afterwards, but so far so good.
