My  WIP of 1/700 IJN Aboba.

The work on the bridge was started in 2019 and halted for almost a year. I recently resumed the work on her and managed to complete the foremast and fore funnel. The hull was cut to the low tide level of her sunken state at the end of WWII.

Gidday Nanond, as usual exquisite workmanship. I thought these cruisers were quite graceful ships. Regards, Jeff.

Thank you. Yes, me too, these 2 classes of smaller heavy cruiser have rather beautiful lines. Even in this sunken state, Aoba still possessed that menacing looks.

Always nice to see what can be achieved in this scale. Good work.

Thank you!

More progress with the aft superstructure.

I did some more work on Aoba during the new year.
It turned out that the stern was more visible during low tide than I thought. So it has to be added. I also redo the bow damage to better capture the appearance in reference photos. The damage to the port side torpedo bulge was quite substantial as well as a piece of deck surface blown to the side.

Slowly but surely, my Aoba has reached the painting stage.

The hull is the first to go through various painting steps to recreate the appearance of the real ship.

Stunning detailing! Until I saw the photo with the lighter, I thought the ship was much bigger.

It appears you've found that I have another unfinished work hiding in here :D :D :D
