06/24
One of the nicest bits of the Blast Models resin upgrades is the combined toolbox and Jack. This was applied to the second FT: Renault FT by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr

On the night of 2 April 1916, one hundred and five years ago today, two Zeppelins, L14 and L22, attacked Edinburgh, dropping bombs across the city. One fell on the Castle Rock, another fell in the Grassmarket, landing among the onlookers gathered to see the spectacle. The bomb exploded outside the White Hart, which was severely damaged. In all 13 people were killed across Edinburgh and Leith, the youngest a baby, killed by a bomb at Bonnington. #RIP Untitled by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Untitled by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Untitled by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Untitled by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Untitled by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Maybe by this time next year I’ll be able to have a pint and a dram in the ‘Hart Count me in for the pint! 06/24
Oh, and I’ve started the third FT - the TSF - telegraphie sans fil - wireless to you and me. The 1918 equivalent of a mobile phone.
Pig of the Week
So if you want to make a phone call you have to wait for a funny little tank to show up....which slot do you stick your 10p in then ? !
06/24
So let’s get this mobile call box started. As this is the third FT on the production line, I’m starting to get the hang of them I think. I’ve compromised a bit on painting the drivers compartment as this one will be closed up apart from the visor. Although this TSF is a Meng kit, the boxy body is a resin part, but it’s decent enough and easy to clean up. Meng Renault TSF by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Meng Renault TSF by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr As can be seen, the second gun tank hasn’t made much progress, but that’s because I’m waiting for a potential driver figure to arrive.

06/24
“Tall” is a relative term, even the TSF isn’t that much taller than a man. These were really tiny tanks!
Pig of the Week
Interesting, you don't get a sense of size / scale until it's got a recognisable figure to compare it to. A guy posted some pics of a real 1/1 scale 30s tankette type thing the other day, and with a man standing alongside you do get the sense of how small some of these things were The FT perhaps gives a larger impression due to the big front sprocket ! I assume the telephone version would have assorted wires trailing out of it in all directions..and blokes running about with cable drums etc
06/24
The header pic here gives an idea (and I think the tank in the phot is up on a ramp slightly!): Renault TSF This shot is a US Army Signal Corps photo so is presumably free of copyright, but will be removed on request. Pig of the Week
Pretty much like a modest tractor size wise...interesting and revealing shot there 👍 ps. I'm sure the US Army won't have a go at you for showing the pic ! ( it's bona fide study / research anyway )

06/24
The next delivery of figures arrived today, including the intended driver for the second Renault. With hindsight, I should perhaps have fitted him to the more closed up TSF, but the drivers doors on that are firmly glued so gun tank two it shall have to be. Driver 2 by Jon Gwinnett, on Flickr Another The Bodi body, intended as the driver for a 40M Turán, he is suitably hunched and with an American replacement head will look the part.

06/24
No progress to report as the revision desk is still in use, but a day off tomorrow and school is back, so fingers crossed. However, no bench doesn’t mean no shopping, my first delivery from Yellow House Club, with a couple of surprise bonuses from them as well. 06/24
I do have a Mengnut DR.1 in the stash as it happens, but I’m intrigued as to what in that image made you think so? This morning’s progress has been the Ft driver, who has been modified to squeeze into the TSF after all. This technically makes him French, since there’s no evidence the Americans used the TSF during the war. However a plain shirt can serve for pretty much any nation, and his head is bare, so it’ll work. However, it’s made me rethink the commander figure, and I think I’ll use the figure from the Meng set in the TSF. Pictures to follow once I’ve brushed the sanding dust off and given them a blast of primer.

Pig of the Week
Ahh fair enough, looked like a Bosche plane to me...you can see how lots must have been shot down by their own side, I'd have taken a pot at it with my SMLE for sure !
